Als je de Balkan beter wilt begrijpen met al zijn complexiteit, rijke geschiedenis en kleurrijke mix van verschillende culturen en gewoonten, raden we je aan om Nis met ons te bezoeken. Tijdens deze dag reis je door de geschiedenis met de professionele leiding van je gids. Onze reis door de tijd zal beginnen vanaf de Romeinse periode, toen Nis aan de wereld een grote man gaf - de Romeinse keizer Constantijn de Grote. Daarna zullen we doorgaan in de Middeleeuwen en de periode van Ottomaanse heerschappij die constructies zoals het fort Nis en de Schedeltoren verliet - een symbool van de strijd voor vrijheid en onafhankelijkheid van de Ottomanen. Op het einde zullen we aandacht besteden aan de moderne geschiedenis en de periode van nazi-bezetting van het voormalige Joegoslavië, een bezoek aan het nazi-concentratiekamp. Natuurlijk, na alle indrukken die je krijgt, is het tijd voor wat rust. Je krijgt de kans om de beroemde Servische keuken te proeven - een van de lekkerste op de Balkan.

Uw gids haalt u om 08:30 uur op bij uw accommodatie in Sofia. Na ongeveer 2 uur rijden bereiken we onze eerste aanblik - het archeologische park Medijana, een Romeinse keizerlijke residentie, tegenwoordig gesloten vanwege renovatie.
Onze volgende stop is de Skull Tower, ook bekend als Cale Kula. De toren is nu een museum gewijd aan de Bulgaren en de Serviërs die hebben deelgenomen aan de opstand tegen het Ottomaanse rijk. Het werd gebouwd van de Turken en gebouwd met de schedels van de gedode rebellen. Het idee van deze daad was om anderen te waarschuwen wat er zal gebeuren als ze weer in opstand komen.
Nazi-concentratiekamp - gebouwd in 1941 en het is beroemd om de succesvolle ontsnapping van de gevangenen begin 1942. Het kamp is perfect bewaard gebleven en is nooit beschadigd.
Daarna gaan we verder naar de oude stad waar we het Nis-fort zullen bezoeken. Daar zullen we ruïnes uit de oude Nisus en later Ottomaanse periode zien. We zullen een wandeling maken en daarna genieten van de traditionele lokale gerechten.

This was my second trip with this company and it was excellent! I forgot the name of the guide (trip was done on 14 July 2026), but he did such an excellent job! Pick up was on time, the van was comfortable, and toilet breaks were scheduled as needed. The guide did a great job explaining all sites visited that include Constantine’s Villa, Skull Tower, one concentration camp, Nis Fortress, and the city center. Thank you for a great trip!
It was an excellent day learning about some history of Nis. It was a long day of driving, but very with it.

Our guided tour to Nis with Tuni was fantastic! The small group size of just five guests and comfortable, air-conditioned transportation made for a relaxed journey. We toured the Ottoman Skull Tower, Constantine’s Mediana ruins, and the former Nazi concentration camp, followed by a great walking tour and free time to explore Nis. Nis is interesting and I enjoyed this tour. Our guide Lubo was very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. After a previous accident, I'm not a fan of motorways and the speed limits in Bulgaria are higher than what I'm used to but Lubo was a great driver and I felt very safe in his car. We had long queues at the borders but he kept us in good spirits. I would avoid this tour during the summer holidays as I believe the border queues are rediculous.

This was a great day trip and definitely worth doing if you want to get out of Sofia and see something completely different. Our day started with a bit of unexpected circumstances when our driver had a medical emergency. Thankfully, the company handled the situation incredibly well. They made sure their driver received the help he needed and quickly arranged another driver so our trip could continue with very little delay. We really appreciated how professional and caring they were. Once we arrived, everything was exactly as described. Our guide was friendly, knowledgeable, and did a great job explaining the history and interesting facts along the way. He even gave us recommendations for places to eat, which was a nice bonus. It's a long day, but the scenery and experience make it absolutely worth it. We'd definitely recommend this tour to anyone wanting to get a taste of Serbia while in Sofia!
