Deze tour van een hele dag langs de werelderfgoedlocaties Pompeii en Herculaneum begint met een pick-up in Napels en een transfer per bus naar de ruïnes van Pompeii. Tijdens dit deel van de excursie zit er een tourassistent in de bus. Bij aankomst in Pompeii verken je de ruïnes voor ongeveer 2 uur. Ontdek de tradities en het dagelijks leven van de oude Pompeii inwoners. Je ziet het grote theater, de necropolis, de thermale baden en enkele van de geweldige huizen die eigendom waren van de rijkste bewoners. Geniet van een inbegrepen lichte lunch in een lokaal restaurant. Na de lunch gaat u naar Herculaneum waar u de kans krijgt om de ruïnes op eigen houtje te verkennen. Het is mogelijk om het dagelijks leven van de bevolking hier nog gedetailleerder te observeren dan in Pompeii, omdat de modder en vulkanisch puin dat de stad bedekte de structuren en artefacten van Herculaneum bewaarde.

Na de laatste pick-up rijden we van het stadscentrum van Napels naar het archeologische park van Pompeii
Ten tijde van de dramatische uitbarsting telde Pompeii ongeveer 11.000 inwoners, terwijl Herculaneum ongeveer 5.000 inwoners telde. In deze steden hadden een aantal keizers en aristocraten hun vakantievilla's. Op een dag, in 79 na Christus, werd het hele gebied in een paar uur tijd bedolven onder enkele meters as. Eeuwen later, in 1748, onder de regering van Bourbons, begonnen de graafwerken. De ontdekking werd met enthousiasme begroet omdat het grote rijkdom aan het koninkrijk toevoegde en de neoclassicistische beweging in Europa inspireerde. Tegenwoordig behoren de ruïnes van Pompeii tot de meest bezochte archeologische vindplaatsen ter wereld, terwijl Herculaneum is vernieuwd vanwege zijn Villa dei Papiri met een bibliotheek van meer dan 1800 papyrus. Bezoek aan de opgravingen (ongeveer 2 uur) en als de tijd het toelaat ook een koraal- en cameefabriek om de productieprocedure te bewonderen die wordt uitgevoerd door deskundige ambachtslieden
Lunchpauze
Na de lunch in een lokaal restaurant. In de namiddag ga je richting de ruïnes van Herculaneum.
Na het bezoek aan Herculaneum keert u terug naar Napels op dezelfde plaats als in de ochtend.

Rafael, the guide in Pompeii, was excellent, very engaging and fun. Ivana, the accompanying guide, was friendly, as was the driver Mahmadou. The problem is that we had to wait 45 minutes after eating to go to Herculaneum, and we lost time. Pompeii is incredible; Herculaneum not so much, especially because it was terribly hot.
We took the tour with Cristian, and everything went perfectly, Pompeii and then Herculaneum. The service and attention were very good; they took us and were waiting for us at each of the sites, the tour included guided visits and food. The guides help a lot to understand part of the incredible history of both sites. And at the end, especially with the heat and when going with children, the bus service is greatly appreciated. Highly recommended.

The pickup both to and from the location by Ivana and Max was perfect. Roberto was our guide in Pompeii, and I have nothing good to say about him. He took us on a brief tour of an unimportant area, and we only visited the House of the Faun and the baths. No other houses, no frescoes, no more mosaics. We told him several times, but he did not pay attention to us. Absolutely disappointing and frustrating. I am truly disappointed and angry. Additionally, the explanation was in Very disappointing.
Only 2 hours of visiting: 1 hour in reality, since the guide Roberto had to give explanations in 2 languages: English and Spanish, which reduced the effective visiting time by half. To make matters worse, he did not take us to visit any of the iconic sites of Pompeii: no mosaics, no murals. Very, very disappointing. Very, very disappointing. 2 hours for lunch (?) and 1.5 hours of visiting Herculaneum. Ivana and Maximo, OK.

A well-structured tour, first to Pompeii where we joined a larger group with an English speaking guide. Fascinating and informative descriptions of life in 79 AD. Then a three course lunch. We proceeded to Herculaneum where we used audio guides to explore this wonderful site. An excellent tour!

Super recommended experience. We took the full tour of Pompeii and Herculaneum, and it was very good. Both the guide of Pompeii and Ivanna and Francesco, who were in charge of the tour and took us to the sites, were wonderful.

An excellent day tour of Pompeii and Herculaneum. Guide Cristian and driver Mundabo took great care of us. In the morning we joined a larger group tour with an official guide who was very informative. After a 3 course lunch we visited Herculaneum where we did a self-directed tour with audio guide. Fabulous day - we saw and learnt so much!
