Dagtrip naar Doñana vanuit Sevilla

It is hard to put in to words just how good our trip was. We booked a private day trip to target Lynx then then Doñana. National and Natural Park. As well as targeting the Iberian Lynx, we also wanted to try to find Iberian Green Woodpecker and Spanish Imperial Eagle. Our first stop for Lynx was successful, Vincent found a female which we were able to watch a close range until she was disturbed by a vehicle - but as she walked off, two cubs came out of hiding and followed her - a truly magical encounter. We then moved to a site where Vincent had previously had success with Iberian Green Woodpecker , and almost immediately found three feeding and calling. Our next stops were at various wetland sites, where we able to observe a huge range of birds (we saw and heard close to 90 species in the day). Vincent's knowledge of the wildlife, geography and economic challenges to the habitats made the trip even more fascinating. Our third target, the Eagle proved challenging, which knew in advance it would be, but Vincent's keen eyes spotted a raptor starting to thermal, and as if on cue, there we had our first ever Spanish Imperial Eagle! We cannot recommend Vincent and Doñana Wings too highly, everything from our initial enquiry through local pick up to the trip itself was faultless and left us hungry to try one of the other tours!

We had the best day looking at birds in Donana Park! Our guide, Fernando, was outstanding and not only showed us so many birds, but also taught us so much. It was a true highlight to our visit to Spain.

For any birder visiting southern Spain, a trip to Parque Nacional de Doñana with Doñana Wings is a must. From our first contact, Vicent was responsive, helpful, and well-organized. He walked us through the various tour options, made solid recommendations on what to bring, and as the trip approached sent us our guide’s name and a Google Maps pin for the pickup location in Sevilla, which was coordinated to within a three-minute walk of our hotel. Logistics like that matter, and they nailed it. Our guide Fernando was outstanding. Fluent in English, he has spent his career as a conservationist and naturalist, the last ten years of it as a guide. His knowledge is deep and his ability to communicate what you’re seeing in real time is genuinely impressive. He’s also just a great guy. The birding itself was extraordinary. We saw well over 50 species, including herons, waterfowl, raptors, and songbirds. Visiting in May meant chicks everywhere: watching Eurasian Spoonbills feed their young and baby Great Crested Grebes climb onto their mother’s back were moments I won’t forget. Fernando’s spotting ability was remarkable throughout. A few practical notes: start an eBird checklist before you go. I didn’t, and paid for it trying to reconstruct the list afterward. On the photo side, I had my 200-600mm with a 1.4x TC and found the TC mostly not worth it. Also, the park rest areas are under construction and closed, so plan accordingly. This was the highlight of our Andalusia trip. Highly recommended.

Vincent gave us a wonderful day’s birding. We saw nearly 70 species. He has great local knowledge and a very relaxed style which made for a most enjoyable trip to Donana.

Vicente is a perfect birding guide , his pre trip advice, responses and support were always exactly as we required and his expert friendly guidance and targeted itinerary could not have been better. The marvelous landscapes and wildlife he showed us were stunning and fascinating and the birds exceeded our expectations. We got everything we could have asked for in a day trip. Several new lifer species and many of the best views of target species we had asked about absolutely brilliant experience

Four of us booked a personal tour, with pick-up and drop-off in Seville, and had a very entertaining time in northern Donana - with the birds and chatting with our guide, Vicent. Our final tally was 65 species, plus another seven heard - not bad for a day trip! We can’t choose our favourites, there were too many, but the overall memories will be of such an abundance of birds of each species - Spoonbills, Black Kites, White Storks, egrets of all types, Night Herons, Squaccos, and especially the flock of 14 Turtle Doves and the many pairs of Marbled Ducks! Vicent is a very knowledgable, helpful and patient guide who tailored the tour very much to our preferences and we recommend his company to anyone who wants to experience the natural riches of Donana and the Seville area.

Where do I start? This was hands down the worst birding tour I have ever taken from over 25 tours across the globe. Vincent is an unethical, dishonest and greedy businessman who does not respect his clients (or at least his solo clients). I reached out to him directly 3 weeks prior to my scheduled trip in 2025 and was told he definitely had availability on the two days I said i was going to be in the area of Donana. His prices were the highest I saw for all bird guides in southern Spain, but I saw the positive reviews and figured it would be worth it. I left a substantial deposit and reached out a couple of times asking who my guide would be so I could communicate to them my lifers and plan the day. He kept telling me he didn't know but assured me he had a guide. I didn't find out until the night before who my guide was going to be. Vincent actually did not have a guide for me at all during that time! He farmed me out to another guide from another company who spoke only rudimentary English (and I speak only rudimentary Spanish), was a chain smoker and had a very loud car with only intermittent A/C (on an extremely HOT day!). I researched this guide, who specializes in tours for Spaniards in Spanish and was over half the cost of Donana Wings tours. I missed out on many lifers including 3 that only my guide saw because he was unable to explain where the bird was in English! To add insult to injury, he went on to describe in broken Spanglish how wonderful the viewing was for over 20 minutes in each situation! I can only assume that Vincent, knowing I was a solo traveler, decided to prioritize a late booking group over me. I did in fact see Vincent's cars with other groups all over Donana that day. I paid 350 Euro for a full day big day and didn't see any lifers that I couldn't have found easily on my own. I highly regret choosing Donana Wings over Wild Donana (who reached back out to me after Vincent did). It appears I would have had a much better experience and even saved some money. Please use caution when booking with Vincent. If you are lucky, you might get him to guide you and have a nice time and see some great birds. But maybe he will do like me and get greedy and pocket the difference by farming you out to someone who should not be guiding American tourists at premium prices.

We had an excellent 11-hour tour led by Maria from Donana Wings. As keen birders from the UK, we can vouch for Maria's impressive knowledge of birds and local sites. We saw well over 100 species, with numerous highlights (penduline tit, marbled duck, griffon vulture, lesser kestrel, black stork, purple & squacco heron etc etc). Highly recommended and superb value.

What a great day we had. With Vincent as a guide, he has told a lot and we have seen more than 70 species of birds, including the marble duck and the red-headed shrike. Top

I was absolutely thrilled with this tour! Vicent was very knowledgeable about the birds and the ecosystem of Doñana. We saw over 50 species. Without this tour, I probably would have been able to identify only five birds! I highly recommend Doñana Wings company.
