Reis door een onontdekt land met woeste woestijnlandschappen, met sneeuw bedekte bergtoppen, kuddes alpaca en arriveer op de ultieme bestemming - de "Rainbow Mountain" diep verborgen in de Andes. Tijdens je reis passeer je een levendige groene vallei met de indrukwekkende Ausangate-berg in de verte. Je zult uit de eerste hand ervaren hoe de lokale bevolking in de bergen leeft en zelfs de kans krijgt om met hen te praten. Naarmate je dichter bij de Rainbow Mountain komt, zul je de eerste tekenen zien van de gekleurde mineralen die de geschilderde heuvels vormden. Je gids zal uitleggen wat het bestaan van de "Regenboogberg" is, en uiteindelijk zal je met een laatste duw naar een uitkijkpunt lopen dat je een 360 graden uitzicht geeft op het prachtige landschap dat dit heilige land in Cusco vormt - Peru.

We halen je om 04:45 uur op. Daarna rijden we door de South Valley. De rit duurt ongeveer 01:40 uur om de Cusipata-gemeenschap te bereiken, waar we zullen stoppen voor het ontbijt. We rijden dan om 01:00 uur naar Chillihuani (4.600 m / 14.189 ft.), waar we de trektocht beginnen om ongeveer 01:30 uur. naar de regenboogberg. Op de weg naar boven wordt beloond met adembenemende bezienswaardigheden van kuddes alpaca's en lama's, de Ausangate-berg, vele rode bergen en traditionele lokale huizen. Wanneer we eindelijk onze bestemming bereiken, de Rainbow Mountains (5.036 m / 16.466 ft.), heb je tijd om de omgeving te verkennen en foto's te maken. We zullen ongeveer 30 minuten tot 1 uur besteden (afhankelijk van je trekkingsnelheid en weersomstandigheden). Na de spectaculaire bezienswaardigheden vanaf de top gaan we naar het startpunt. (Quesiuno-gemeenschap) vanwaar we het transport naar de CUsipata-gemeenschap zullen nemen om te lunchen. Daarna beginnen we onze reis terug naar Cusco om 17.00 uur ongeveer.

Awesome experience! It was a wonderful journey from cusco. Very good trip, the guides Yesenia and Walter were excellent and very well organised. Breathtaking views and an incredible hike up to 5200 m above sea level to make you realise how unfit you are. Mind blowing panorama view of a living colours mountain. Food was awesome breakfast and lunch were great. I would definitely recommend Machu Picchu Amazon Peru company.

I was a bir paranoid as most travellers i met mentioned how they suffered the altitude while hiking up the Rainbow Mountain. I guess i was fortunate enough to have a guide like Richard who was super enthusiastic and made it easier by having frequent stops and preparing me for the trek. The view from the top is absolutely amazing. I would highly recommend hikers to go a bit further and hike down the red valley.
