Er is een plek in de haven van Las Coloradas, Yucatan, die het toneel lijkt van een fantastische droom. Dit visuele spektakel staat bekend als "Pink Lake". In dit vissersdorp is de zoutindustrie onmisbaar. Het waren de zoutafzettingen die zich in het meer ophoopten die het water kleurden met een spectaculaire roze tint. Belangrijke informatie: Van 19 juli tot 19 augustus 2023, vanwege het begin van de zoutoogst, is de roze tint van Las Coloradas veel lager en zult u de karakteristieke kleur van dit gebied niet kunnen waarderen. Tijdens deze tour kun je genieten van de natuur die ons op een dag omringt, we reizen naar Las Coloradas, een klein vissersdorpje in het oosten van de staat Yucatan. We brengen je naar je hotel, we gaan allemaal naar de minibus. Het wordt een reis van ongeveer 3 uur. Omdat ons vertrek erg vroeg is, geven we u onderweg een lunchpakket om van te genieten. Aangekomen in het dorp Las Coloradas bevindt u zich op een steenworp afstand van de zandwegen die uitkijken op het meest spectaculaire roze meer van Mexico, als gevolg van de winning van zeezout in de regio. Las Coloradas is een eenvoudige populatie die voornamelijk leeft van zoutwinning en visserij. Het eerste wat je in Las Coloradas kunt doen, is de zandpaden bewandelen en het unieke schouwspel van roze water in Yucatan bewonderen terwijl je foto's maakt.
We gaan weer omhoog om te transporteren en gaan naar Rio Lagartos, dat 38 km ten westen van Las Coloradas ligt. Wanneer we aankomen, gaan we aan boord van een boot die ons meeneemt door een tocht door de mangroven van Río Lagartos en het beschermde natuurreservaat genaamd Ria Lagartos dat een natuurgebied vormt. Het wordt een tour van twee uur, waarbij je toeschouwer bent van een van de attracties die Río Lagartos heeft, zijn de flamingo's die de biosfeer komen voeden en nesten, en die een prachtig spektakel bieden wanneer ze aankomen in grote kuddes die de hemel roze. We zullen een mat bereiken die ons toegang geeft om de roze flamingo's tijdens het eten van dichterbij te zien, onthoud dat je heel stil moet zijn, want elke vogel wordt gemakkelijk bang. Als we dichterbij komen om ze te bewonderen, zie je enkele zeekakkerlakken die rondlopen, wat kogelvis en andere vogelsoorten. Aan het einde van de flamingo-waarneming kunt u naar het "Maya-bad" gaan, waar u kunt afkoelen in een modder van roze of gouden water, dit vanwege de hoge concentraties zwavel, mineralen, zouten en algen die het bezit, die die fungeren als exfolianten voor de huid en een gevoel van zachtheid door het hele lichaam achterlaten.
Het eten waar u van kunt genieten, wordt gehouden in het restaurant Los Negritos, waar u een van de gerechten uit het hoofdmenu kunt kiezen.

Travelling from playa de carmen takes 2hrs 45min but worth the journey for the 'instagrammable' salt flats, exciting boat ride and visit to the croc farm. An excellent lunch included and the tour guide (maui and manuel, the driver) was very friendly and knowledgable. Defo reccomend we had a great time
Although the tour included a very long bus ride, we throughly enjoyed the pink lakes. Food was good and guides were very professional

This trip had an excellent range of acivities. The lake is genuinely pink, no filters needed, the boat trip was lovely and a great chance to spot the local wildlife, the crocodile farm was very interesting and the crocodiles and black headed vultures very sweet. Our guide Arturo was professional and informative and managed to convey everything to the party in at least four different languages that i heard. Most impressive. So given all this why only 3 stars you ask? Two main issues (one easily solved by taking a few snacks) and the other very major indeed. As a vegetarian, being given a ham sandwich for my lunch box was not great and there doesn't seem to be any way to request another option. There was a salad option for lunch but i found it too salty to eat (apparently the chicken dish was okay). So, if you are picky take your own snacks. However, then there is the thing we could do nothing about and which did its best to ruin our day. Our bus was full and as our connectiin arrived late we were in the back seats. These seats are probably fine for kids up to age 10 but they are not big enough for adults. The four of us in the row couldnt all lean back at once because our shoulders would not fit. My husband and i both ended sitting on sharp edges at the sides of the seats and i still feel bruised today (i have never had trouble fitting in a seat before and luckily everyone else in our row was slender). We were stuck thigh to thigh, literally couldn't move and after three hours felt hideously claustrephobic. I suggest the people arranging these trips get put four across in the back of this bus and driven round for a total of six hours like we were. Most physically uncomfortabke bus ride i have ever been on.

The pink lakes are nothing but a salt pond. There is only one. It is not very pretty. you want to take it at very special angles to get any beauty. However the boat ride associated with the pink Lakes tour is incredible. Seeing lots of nature and wildlife. Seeing the flamingos, crocodiles, eagles, other birds was awesome. The lunch was fantastic.

Wish I could have skipped this tour especially with spending around 6 hours to get to the las Coloradas and almost 5 hours to get back to Cancun after all the activities makes it not worth it. The pink lake was also quite underwhelming and the boat tour and mud bath were just okay.

We went in a small motor boat to see the flamingos. We also saw alligators, pelicans, many other birds, we had a clay bath and we swam in the Gulf of Mexico. Our guide Jose was very informative and we were able to communicate despite our minimal Spanish. The boat will hold a maximum 6 people and the price you pay is for the boat, regardless of the number of people. We did not book our tour ahead.

This was an amazing day trip! Very well coordinated and many stops and things to do! Totally worth it! Nonstop but beautiful . We did las coloradas, breathtaking pink salt lakes and then we did Rio Lagartos where we saw crocs, flamingos, pelicans, all right next to our boat. We also had a Mayan mud bath and beach time and the lunch was delicious! Only downside was the ride there cause it took forever from Cancun but it is what it is, that is the time it takes. This was totally worth it and the guides so nice and knowledgeable and very helpful. Best tour we did!!
