Galle is een van de dichtstbevolkte steden van Sri Lanka. Dit strandparadijs in het zuidwesten van het eiland is vanwege zijn historische betekenis een van de bekendste van het hele land. Het diende als de belangrijkste haven van het eiland tot de komst van de Portugezen in de 16e eeuw. Kijk tijdens het reizen uit naar vissers die hun waren langs de kant van de weg verkopen en geniet van de prachtige groene en turquoise stranden langs de weg. Zeg het tegen onze chauffeur als u uw tenen in het zand wilt steken. Er zijn twee mogelijkheden met betrekking tot de oorsprong van de huidige naam van Galle. Je kunt een unieke ervaring hebben tijdens het wandelen op Galle Fort door naar beneden te staren en het uitzicht op de zee in je op te nemen. U kunt 's avonds genieten van de zonsondergang boven het fort. Zodra de zon is ondergegaan, keert u terug naar de haven met onschatbare herinneringen.

De Sea Turtle Farm and Hatchery is een niet-winstgevende organisatie die wordt onderhouden voor het voortbestaan van zeeschildpadden voor de volgende generatie. De "Turtle Farm" is gelegen in Habaraduwa vlakbij het prachtige strand. Dat is 5 meter van de hoofdweg Galle - Matara. In de zuidelijke regio van Sri Lanka ligt het district Galle. Balapitiya is een klein stadje in het district en zou vrij onbelangrijk zijn; behalve de locatie van een rivier. De Madu-rivier is zeer rijk aan biodiversiteit. De vuurtoren van Galle bevindt zich in het monumentale Galle Fort. Het is zeven meter boven de weg op de wallen gebouwd. Dit is het oudste lichtstation van Sri Lanka dat dateert uit 1848, maar de oorspronkelijke vuurtoren werd in 1934 door brand verwoest. Het werd herbouwd op de huidige hoogte van 26 meter. Het lichtstation bevindt zich binnen de muren van het oude Galle-fort, een UNESCO-werelderfgoed en een bekende toeristische attractie, waardoor dit de meest bezochte vuurtoren van het land is. Het Nationaal Maritiem Museum van Galle zit boordevol nautische en maritieme wonderen, opgegraven uit de zee en hier tentoongesteld. Galle is altijd al een belangrijke haven geweest, die al duizenden jaren wordt bezocht door schepen en handelaren van over de hele wereld. Het ontsnapte dan ook niet aan de klauwen van de Nederlandse handelaren die winst boven alles stelden.
De klokkentoren van Galle is een vier verdiepingen hoog stenen monument uit de late 19e eeuw. Het werd gebouwd binnen de wallen van het Galle Fort op de plaats van de vorige wachtkamer, met uitzicht op een van de drie bastions van het fort. Hoewel de oude klokkentoren een geweldig monument is om te fotograferen, zal het wat handig manoeuvreren vergen vanwege de extreme hoek dichtbij. Daarom is het misschien beter om het te fotograferen vanaf het maanbastion waar de toren naar uitkijkt (in combinatie met het fort van Galle) Einde van de tour, ga terug naar accommodatie met veel leuke herinneringen
Oorspronkelijk gebouwd in 1640, het huidige gebouw dateert uit 1752. De vloer is geplaveid met grafstenen van Nederlandse begraafplaatsen, terwijl andere indrukwekkende kenmerken het orgel en een imposante preekstoel gemaakt van calamanderhout en bekroond door een groot zeshoekig baldakijn zijn. (combineert met Galle fort )
Eens een renbaan voor weddenschappen op Britse kolonisten, werd het cricketveld van Galle meer dan 100 jaar geleden aangelegd. Sinds 1998 wordt het gebruikt voor internationale wedstrijden; in 2010 was het de locatie van de legendarische laatste verschijning van de grote bowler van Sri Lanka, Muttiah Muralitharan. Er is een geweldig perspectief op de grond vanaf het Zonnebastion naar het zuiden.
- Gelegen in Galle, is Dutch Hospital Shopping Precinct, zoals de naam al doet vermoeden, een winkelcentrum in een prachtig gerestaureerd koloniaal gebouw dat oorspronkelijk is gebouwd tijdens de Nederlandse bezetting. Het heeft een constant groeiend aanbod aan plekken om te eten, drinken of winkelen. Vanaf het bovenste balkon heeft u een fantastisch uitzicht op de baai. (combineert met fort Galle)

So much too see, so many stops. Turtla Rescue center, beach views, mangrove forest boat tour. Obligitory sales stops at Cinnamon Island and Gem Stone mine. Galle Fort with the famous jumpers (Nest thing on the tour) and thrn the stilt fishermen. I eluld reverse the order though as the stilt fishermen is late in the day.

This was a great trip with a brilliant driver and our guide Naveen for whom nothing was too much trouble - we had a full tour of the Dutch fort which was intriguing after a brilliant cruise on the river seeing lots of wildlife and having a foot bath with the fishes - the turtle hatchery was really informative and great fun

1) extremely rough driving 2) not spors were not clean like bentota beach. there were other beaches which were cleaner 3) quality of vehicle not great for charges

We had a great tour with Krish, who was a great guide and fun to talk to during the long rides. We saw the sea turtles, toured the river, and had about an hour in Galle. Made it back to Colombo around 7 after starting around 8:45.

I had an amazing experience - it was a private tour and I need to thank to the company for very fast and accurate communication. The driver took me to all the places included in the program - we spent almost 12 hours on the road visiting different places and it was amazing. I do recommend to have a water safari at Madu river. Kosgoda sea turtles conservation project is the other thing you should know.

One needs to carefully read the itinerary. it is full of additional optional offers that are not cheap. it adds up and the total trip cost is not too high. driving in a busy towns does not add to the experience. in fact driving in general is crazy FOR the PASSANGER. the only highlight for me was the Modu Safari. The Galle fort has no uniqueness other than its history. I would pick the stops in the itinerary that i want to go. Tell the driver to get there through the highway. the operator & driver executed flawlessly but the trip content does not worth it for me.
