Tijdens onze Grand Bazaar-foodtour beginnen we de dag met een uitgebreid ontbijt om het beste van de zuivelhooglanden in Oost-Anatolië te vieren, gevolgd door een ongewone bruidssoep uit Konya. Daarna banen we ons een weg door het kledingdistrict naar een cluster van hans uit het Ottomaanse tijdperk (handelaarsherbergen), de thuisbasis van een gilde van traditionele ambachtslieden in hun kleine werkplaatsen. Daar zullen we een onvergetelijke, versgebakken pide hebben voordat we ons een weg banen in, uit en rond de Grand Bazaar, genietend van een perfecte kebab, een hap van lever in Edirne-stijl en een reeks seizoensgebonden, vegetarische mezes. We zullen thee en Turkse koffie drinken op afgelegen plaatsen, terwijl de zoete tonen op deze route beginnen met kadayıf, een liefdesbrief met Arabische invloeden uit de Zuid-Turkse stad Gaziantep, en eindigen met een heerlijke met melk gedrenkte cake die zijn weg vond van Albanië naar Istanbul. Het is de Bazaar-wijk van Istanbul zoals het nog nooit eerder is gezien - of geproefd.

Great that it starts and ends same location, the Grand Bazaar, if you are new to town and don't know your way around. Really fun. Very good tour guide. Felt very comfortable in the GB after tour. Lots of food.

Our guide, Gonca, led us through an unforgettable experience discovering the real life of the Grand Bazaar. While tourists are overwhelmed by the many shops and products, we were weaving in and out of the bazaar, exploring hidden corners and climbing terraces we would have never found on our own. My husband and two daughters (7 and 11) had the most memorable, tasty, interesting day with the fantastic Gonca - our tour guide. It’s a day we will remember forever.
