Creoolse kindertour in New Orleans

Maak een wandeling terug in de tijd tijdens deze unieke 90 minuten durende wandeling door de Franse wijk. De door de leraar geleide Creole Kids Tour leidt elementaire oude kinderen (en hun volwassenen) door 6 blokken van de Franse wijk waarin wordt uitgelegd wie hier woonde, waarom ze hier woonden en hoe het leven was voor kinderen die hier in de 19e eeuw woonden. Kinderen zullen foto's van het verleden zien, artefacten uit het verleden vasthouden en een moment opnieuw spelen. Het bezoeken van volwassenen zal weglopen met een beter begrip van de stad en een aantal zeer gelukkige kinderen! Volwassenen worden aangemoedigd om deel te nemen of achterover te leunen en hun kinderen de show te laten leiden.

Gezinnen leren feiten over de rivier en het gebruik ervan in de afgelopen eeuwen. Papa-grappen en tot nadenken stemmende vragen zijn inbegrepen.
Kinderen leren wie Andrew Jackson was, waar hij het meest bekend om staat en waarom er een standbeeld van hem in New Orleans staat. Ze zullen hem ook begroeten zoals een 19e-eeuws burger zou doen.
In dit open park zullen gezinnen in de schaduw zitten en leren over de verschillende mensen die sinds de 17e eeuw in New Orleans controleerden, werkten en woonden. We zullen bespreken hoe dit land werd gebruikt en waarom mensen hier vrijwillig en tot slaaf kwamen. Kinderen leren over het dagelijks leven in de jaren 1800 voor gratis kinderen versus tot slaaf gemaakte kinderen; Amerikanen versus Creolen, en jongens versus meisjes. Tot nadenken stemmende discussies zijn verweven met het naspelen van aspecten van ons verleden terwijl we genieten van de zon op dit prachtige plein.
Gezinnen zullen leren over de rol van de katholieke kerk bij het opzetten van de kolonie, evenals over de Code Noir die religie en de rollen van de tot slaaf gemaakte bevolking regeerde. We gluren langs de zijkant en horen over een van de meest populaire katholieke feestdagen: Mardi Gras.

Miss Jill did an amazing job with this tour. She was incredibly patient with the kids and the material was perfect for the target audience. My daughter learned a lot and I was happy she was getting well researched and fact based information delivered in a way she could understand and process (even though some topics are difficult for kiddos to get). We loved the tour so much, we booked the tween ghost tour with Miss Chelsea the next day and loved it as well! I cannot recommend this company strongly enough if you are traveling with kiddos.

What a great tour! Leann was so knowledgeable and passionate about New Orleans history and it really came alive for my 7&10 year olds. She took her time answering questions and adding details and both children and adults walked away with new understanding of the region and history. Both kids and adults were engaged the entire tour, and it was a great mix of history, walking, props and active learning. You can tell Leann is a teacher. I’m sure she’s just as wonderful in the classroom, her students are lucky.
We absolutely LOVED the Creole Kids tour! Leann was our guide and she did a phenomenal job! She went above and beyond with the tour and did an amazing job making history come to life. My husband and I loved it just as much as the kids! It was the highlight of our time in New Orleans, and the kids said it was even better than beignets! 😉
We took a kids walking tour and it was wonderful! Very educational while being engaging and fun. Learned a lot about Creole culture and how people lived hundreds of years ago in New Orleans.

My kids loved this! The guide was very knowledgeable and professional. She was very personable and when I told her my children’s father was creole, she made it a point to connect the tour to them. We will be doing more tours and I definitely recommend.
This was an amazing experience for our kids. The communication with location and information ahead of time was perfect. This tour kept our kids attention the entire time and our kids were taking about it all day long. It was very educational and we would highly recommend when visiting NOLA.

My 8 and 6 years old stayed engaged the entire time. All four of us learned interesting history of NOLA. Not as much walking as I expected (this was a good thing). I would highly recommend this tour. I wish I booked more tours through them.
