The whole experience was absolutely fantastic. I had an accident a few hours before the class and our guide was so kind she made arrangements for a taxi to pick us up and drop us off. She even accommodated the class time due to the accident. The class was very thorough, we learned about the spices used for the dishes, how the chicken is cleaned, etc. My son is vegetarian, so the guide adapted the tagine to make it fully vegetarian. We learned about their the way coffee is spiced up in each home and learned more about the traditional tea. Her mom had baked some amazing treats for us to try with the coffee and tea. The whole experience is great as you learn so much more than just cooking. It is a great cultural experience, highly recommended.
She was super welcoming, we started with a coffee that only get served on special occasions. I normally dislike coffee but this one was tasty even for me. It felt more like a tea than a coffee! Then we started on making the food, she explained everything and guides you through the steps very well. You also get to make the mint tea and we even made a non alcoholic mojito which were both delicious. We talked about all kinds of things during the experience and you really get to know how people in Morocco live. I've done other courses too in other countries but this was easily the best experience i've had so far. Would strongly recommend for anyone going to Casablanca!!
The Moroccan cooking experience with Wissel was nothing short of amazing! She and her family were very inviting and the food and the experience was amazing. We enjoyed everything from the pickup and drop off at our hotel to the clean and inviting home. Her instructions were easy to follow and she uses only the best spices for her dishes. We enjoyed both the cooking and dining experience. She speaks very good English as well. It was the highlight of our trip. Would definitely recommend!
This was an amazing experience. Not only being invited into a typical Moroccan home but to learn to make the Moroccan dishes was so wonderful. We were able to help prepare the dishes and they tasted amazing. Recipes were given to us to try and recreate the food and drinks at home. This was incredible. I would recommend highly recommend Wissal.
Our experience with Wissal was absolutely amazing! She is the sweetest host and quickly became a new friend! We made wonderful food, tried on traditional dresses from her and her family, and enjoyed a meal while we talked and laughed. Truly one of the best experiences I’ve had.
Wissal was a wonderful and welcoming host and her class was amazing! She is so kind and let us ask questions about Morocco and her culture. Her mom helped as well and was really sweet. The food we made was DELICIOUS and ended up being the best meal we had our entire trip! HIGHLY recommend!
Wissal was an incredibly kind, generous and informative host. She shared stories and information about Moroccan culture while also teaching us how to make some wonderful dishes. It was one of my favorite nights of our trip and I would definitely do it again! :)
Wissal and her cooking class were INCREDIBLE! She made us feel right at home in her house and she was so kind and welcoming. This is a MUST in Casablanca!!
This is my second cooking class with Wissal and it was just as amazing as the first!! Wissal is so welcoming allowing us to experience her class in her own home and answering all of our questions about her life and culture. She did an amazing job making sure each person in our group had a role in the cooking. The food was incredible!!! Also getting to try on traditional dresses was so special. I highly recommend doing this class if you are visiting Casablanca, you will not regret it!!
We expected a cooking class. We got an intense introduction to life in Morocco. Yes, we made tagine, both chicken and lamb, in a normal kitchen with normal tools. But that's the sidebar. Wissal, our host, welcomed us warmly. The apartment, her sister's, was just beautiful. We started with Moroccan spiced coffee, which we had to analyze for ingredients. Then began the prep and cooking. Wissal is a good teacher, explaining the why as well as the how. The tagines take over an hour to cook, and during this time we graduated to tea. We were honored with homemade cookies and bread, handmade by Nonna. Wissal had provided a number of elaborate caftans and djellabas for the ladies. The results were astonishing! We men had plain garb, appropriately. Yes, lunch turned out wonderfully. Tagine, salads, mojitos, all good! But this was accompanied by the intensity of the experience. Wissal had previously changed our time from 5pm to noon because "something had come up". That something was her sister's having delivered twins. The family had gathered to help, and the entire family welcomed us. Our companions in the class were an American couple from California, she Jewish and Moroccan, and he Egyptian and Muslim. The conversation was like drinking from a fire hose. Mrs. Dr. Companion examined the twins and eased New Mom's worries. There aren't enough words to describe these few hours. This was the highlight of our entire trip.
