* Ervaring met kleine groepen * (max. 8 personen) Tijdens deze dagtrip vanuit Cusco zult u een van de beste uitzichtmogelijkheden voor Condors ervaren in hun natuurlijke omgeving. De condors langs de kloof van Apurimac bieden u de gelegenheid om de grootste vliegende vogel ter wereld te observeren, de majestueuze Andes-condor die oprijst uit de Chonta-kloof die deel uitmaakt van de Apurimac-kloof in de buurt van Cusco. Chonta Canyon is een van de diepste canyons in Zuid-Amerika en de thuishaven van talloze Andescondities.

We vertrekken voor het avontuur om 7 uur vanuit je hotel in Cusco. We rijden naar de stad Limatambo en onderweg stoppen we bij uitkijkpunten om foto's te maken van de verbazingwekkende Andes- en Salkantay-berg. Daarna rijden we door een prachtig berglandschap. Na een uur komen we aan in Killarumiyoc waar onze gids alle Inca-geschiedenis van deze charmante plek zal uitleggen. We vervolgen onze weg naar de vallei van Limatambo, waar de site Tarawasi Inca zich bevindt. Na het verkennen van deze prachtige site, zullen we onze tour voortzetten bergopwaarts over de onverharde weg naar de gemeenschap van Chonta. Bij aankomst wandelen we 1 ½ uur (matige moeilijkheidsgraad) om de uitkijk op Hahuacco te bereiken, dat een geweldig uitzicht biedt op de Apurimac-kloof en het Vilcabamaba-gebergte. Met een beetje geluk zullen we genieten van onze Condor-waarneming; het is gebruikelijk om de majestueuze condors in hun natuurlijke habitat te zien vliegen en over de Chonta-kloof te vliegen. In de middag lopen we terug naar Chonta voor 1 ½ uur en rijden dan terug naar Cusco. De ophaaltijd is tussen 2:15 uur en 2:45 uur, wacht om 2:15 uur in de lobby van je hotel en kijk uit voor het busje. Misschien wilt u een kussen en deken meenemen om wat extra slaap te krijgen tijdens de rit met het busje (deze kunnen in het busje achterblijven terwijl u wandelt). Als u vatbaar bent voor bewegingsziekte, raden we ook aan iets te nemen om u hierbij te helpen.

I did the day condor day trip with Jacob, it is a really worth while day trip to a beautiful canyon about 2.5 hours from Cusco. We were lucky enough to see some beautiful and majestic condors. The trip additionally included a stop at some previous INKA ruins, I found Jacob to be an excellent and knowledgable guide throughout this trip. I would recommend this trip if you have time and would like to see condors close to Cusco.
I went on the one-day condor tour from Cusco. I was a young woman traveling by myself, but never felt in danger or uncomfortable with my FlashPacker Connect team. My tour guide, Jacob and driver Hugo picked me up from my hotel around 7:30 am. We drove to Killarumiyoc where Jacob gave me a tour of the ruins there. He was very knowledgable about history and you can tell that he really enjoys "letting you fly with history." It really is a cool experience seeing these smaller archeological sites in smaller groups. Totally different experience than a crowded Machu Piccu tour or even a group tour at less crowded places. I also really enjoyed having the time to get to know my tour guide, Jacob, both on the drive and during the tour. He taught me so much more than what was technically "included" in the tour. When we made it to the small village of Chonta, we went to a small trailhead where we hiked for about an hour to the condor lookout. We waited for about 2 hours for the condors to come out soaring (it seemed to correlate with when the sun finally came out from thick cloud cover). There were also other birds there to keep me occupied though, including eagles and a pair of peregrine falcons, along with some parrots. Jacob was very patient even though I knew he probably wanted to get going as it was a Friday afternoon. When the condors finally came out flying, I really cannot explain how amazing it was! We saw both adults and juvenile condors. One juvenile flew very close to the lookout and you could tell he was curious about us. I thought I would want to take more pictures, but my absolute favorite thing to do was just look through my binoculars at the birds and just take in every moment. We also had a wonderful packed lunch while out there. Hugo, our driver, was very patient and waited for us until we came back later in the afternoon. Overall an amazing experience. Would highly recommend both the Condor tour and Jacob.
I sincerely recommend this tour... The two first stops at inca sites were really interesting. The walk to the observation point was so beautiful...the view is just amazing...and when the condors finally arrive, it's just magic. I was alone for this daytrip but my guide Yeicob was such a good company and gave me really good explanations. We took all the time needed to watch the condors, no rush at anytime. I really appreciated it. The food was nice as well. Nothing negative to say.
This tour was so easy to book, with a fabulous website and easy email contact to confirm details. Our guide Jonathan was excellent, from start (right on time) to the end. Excellent English, knowledge, humour and pace set (including on the optional extras for the adventurous). Mr Mario whipped up a delicious meal on a camp cooker, with asparagus soup with garlic bread, ceviche, corn both on the cob and roasted, avocado salad, and scrumptious stuffed peppers on ricotta fritters. And then there were the Condors.... we saw 10-12 in flight and it was breathtaking and indescribable. Fantastic way to end the year!
Absolutely loved this day trip. Our guide Jonathan was superb. He was knowledgeable, super friendly, spoke fantastic English and took us to some amazing ‘off the beaten track’ spots for incredible views of the valley and the Condors. Mario the cook delivered an amazing traditional feast for us when we got back to the van. Our driver was fantastic at navigating the dirt road, which is not for the faint hearted. Overall a 10/10 experience and one we will never forget.
