Vermijd toeristische drukte in Medellin: Comuna 4 Durf verder te gaan dan de met toeristen gevulde straten en duik in het hart van Comuna 4, een wijk die de overheid decennia lang niet heeft erkend, waar nu de authenticiteit bloeit en lokale verhalen tot leven komen. Onze meeslepende tour is niet alleen een wandeling; het is een intieme verkenning onder leiding van een gepassioneerde gids en een lokale gemeenschapsleider die opgroeide in de wijk en die deze levendige gemeenschap haar thuis noemt. Wat ons onderscheidt: • Respect: Dit is geen "armoedetoerisme", integendeel, het is een kans voor de lokale bevolking om te laten zien hoe trots ze zijn op hun wijk. • Ervaring: We organiseren deze ervaring sinds 2016 en versterken de stem van de lokale bevolking en de transformatie van Medellin. • Kennis: Wij zijn professionele reisleiders die in het buitenland hebben gewoond en zijn niet tevreden met al te eenvoudige uitleg. We leggen het Colombiaanse onderwijssysteem, het gezondheidszorgsysteem, het welzijnssysteem en meer uit.

Onze gids en de gemeenschapsambassadeur ontmoeten je daar en zullen je de historische context van de Barrio Moravia geven, de oorsprong ervan in de jaren 60 als illegale wijk uitleggen en een versie van de "transformatie van Medellin" uitleggen.
Bezoek La Resistencia de Moravia. Maak kennis met de ‘andere kant van de transformatie van Medellin’, de versie waar niemand over praat, en begrijp waarom honderden gezinnen zich al meer dan tien jaar verzetten tegen het herverdelingsplan van de regering.
Eenmaal diep in de buurt vinden we een rustige plek om te zitten en te praten over het Colombiaanse gezondheidszorg- en welzijnssysteem. Leer begrijpen waarom er zoveel straatverkopers zijn en hoe het komt dat, als er een welzijnssysteem bestaat, bijna de helft van de Colombianen daar geen toegang toe heeft.
Maak kennis met de graffiti gewijd aan de belangrijkste voetbalteams van de stad en begrijp de culturele implicaties achter deze sport in de Colombiaanse samenleving.
We gaan weer zitten en genieten van de schaduw van de bomen voor Fundación Oasis Urbano, waar we het Education- en Strata-systeem in Colombia verkennen.
We genieten van de kleinste maar lekkerste straat-empanadas van de hele stad!
We krijgen het voetbalveld van de wijk te zien, we praten met de lokale ambassadeur en we maken kennis met haar verhaal van veerkracht, weerstand en hoop.
Samen met de gemeenschapsambassadeur bezoekt u het Centro Cultural en leert u het krachtige verhaal kennen van hoe deze gemeenschap een dergelijke infrastructuur heeft gebouwd

We had an very impressive tour in Communa 4. The tour guide gave the tour together with a local community leader and their dynamic was really good. We heard personal stories, but also learned about the history of the neighbourhood. I highly recommend this tour to anybody visiting Medellín!

If you want to do a walking tour of a communa where you do not encounter tourists like in communa 13 do this tour! You will learn a lot about Colombia and life in recent years in commune 4. Very interesting!

Toto and Gloria were incredibly generous and engaging, sharing their stories and experiences and giving an insight to life in Moravia. We were not sure about visiting comuna 13 while in Medellin and ultimately decided not to has it was repeatedly described to us as a “show” and “disneyland”. There are stories of incredible transformation and community effort all over Medellin and Colombia and this tour demonstrated that for us. If you want souvenirs, colourful murals, and dance performances, this tour is probably not for you. But if you want an insight into the communities of Medellin’s barrios and “informal” settlements then this tour will provide that.
