Ontdek de filosofen die de communistische ideologie hebben gevormd en ontdek hoe deze voor het eerst werd geïmplementeerd in Rusland en vervolgens in Oost-Europa. Leer meer over Ceausescu en het leven in het communistische Roemenië. Duik midden in de Socialist Victory-boulevard, het startpunt van de tour en het laatste megalomane communistische project. Ontdek het Paleis van de Kamer van Afgevaardigden en hoe de samenleving werd gevormd vóór de communistische heerschappij. Leer meer over de arme achtergrond van Ceausescu en zijn opkomst aan de macht. Het regime van Ceausescu wordt beschouwd als het meest onderdrukkende communistische regime in het Oostblok, zeer vergelijkbaar met de Kim-dynastie in Noord-Korea, die zijn heerschappij in Roemenië als geen ander maakte. Ontdek het leven in het communisme, van voedselrantsoenering tot de geheime politie. Het laatste punt zal het Revolutieplein zijn, waar een groep agitatoren het einde van het regime van Ceausescu beraamde.

Je begint voor het op een na grootste administratieve gebouw ter wereld, het Paleis van het Parlement, dat deel uitmaakt van het laatste megalomane communistische project.
Een deel van de oude stad werd bijna gesloopt om ruimte te maken voor de nieuwe Socialistische Overwinningsboulevard.
Geïnspireerd door Garnier Opera uit Parijs, is deze plek verbonden met het begin van de democratie in Roemenië, maar ook met het begin van de communistische beweging.
Dit monument, gebouwd in de jaren tachtig en onderdeel van de Socialist Victory-boulevard, is nu een wonder met zijn dansende fonteinen.
Beschouwd als het symbool van het oude regime, werd deze plek tijdens het communistische tijdperk verlaten.
Roemenië was het enige land uit het communistische blok dat eindigde in een bloedige revolutie, de meeste slachtoffers werden op dit plein neergeschoten.
Deze plek, nu het Nationaal Kunstmuseum, fungeerde als winterresidentie van de Roemeense koninklijke familie, maar tijdens de eerste jaren van het communisme werd het het Paleis van de Republiek en een protocolgebouw.
Een van de meest representatieve gebouwen in Boekarest, we hebben het met trots op het 5 lei-biljet afgedrukt.
Het hoofdgebouw op dit plein was het Centraal Comité van de Communistische Partij, van waaruit Nicolae Ceausescu zijn laatste toespraak hield voor het Roemeense volk.

We had a wonderful trip together with our guide Daniel… you could tell he is extremely passionate about the topic and answered all our questions with expertise. We would definitely recommend this trip if you want to get a real understanding and a nuanced image of communism and its rise and fall in Roumania and what it has meant to the Romanian people… Eye-opening!

Daniel was a wonderful guide: passionate, funny, very knowledgeable about the past and present of his country. The tour was amazing and our guide was really really great. His name. His name is Daniel and he’s very knowledgeable about history and you can see. He has a passion for it.. he was also very gracious and helped us when we were hit by a terrible storm in the middle of the tour. He helped us cover and protect ourselves from falling trees. We had an absolutely amazing tour with Daniel and cannot recommend him enough. He was incredibly attentive to the needs of the group and always made sure everyone was engaged and enjoying the experience. What we especially loved was how interactive he made the tour.
