Na je exclusieve Colosseum-tour bezoeken we de aangrenzende triomfboog - een torenhoog meesterwerk van wit marmer, boordevol intrigerende details. Keizer Constantijn liet het monument in 315 na Christus oprichten om zijn overwinning op Maxentius een paar jaar eerder te herdenken - een strijd die hij beweerde te hebben gewonnen met de hulp van Christus zelf. Ondanks zijn bewering zijn er geen christelijke symbolen in de boog. In plaats daarvan zijn er beelden van Dacische gevangenen en reliëfs waarop Marcus Aurelius het brood aan de armen geeft. De binnenkant van de boog toont de overwinning van keizer Trajanus op de Daciërs.
Vermijd ook het wachten in de rij om het Forum Romanum te betreden, waar je wordt ondergedompeld in wat ooit het kloppende hart was van een van de grootste oude beschavingen die de wereld ooit heeft gekend. Bekijk de ongelooflijke ruïnes van tempels en tijdloze zuilen terwijl je gids samen door de pagina's van de geschiedenis dwaalt voor een ongelooflijk portret van het oude Rome.
Overschaduwd door het Colosseum en het Forum Romanum, is het in werkelijkheid de Palatijn die zijn schaduw over beide werpt. De legende zegt dat Romulus hier Rome heeft gesticht en de geschiedenis die we allemaal kennen in gang heeft gezet, en het archeologische record bevestigt dat nederzettingen al in de 8e eeuw voor Christus op deze heuveltop begonnen. Deze heuvel was in zijn hoogtijdagen zo weelderig dat het woord "paleis" er eigenlijk van is afgeleid. - We zijn niet in staat om late aankomsten tegemoet te komen als we hebben een getimede ingang van respect. Gemiste tours als gevolg van late aankomsten worden niet terugbetaald. Houd rekening met extra tijd om het ontmoetingspunt te bereiken, omdat de straten van Rome verwarrend kunnen zijn.

It’s super hot in the summer and unfortunately still have to lineup !! The tour itself was good - you learned a lot and vasco tries to answer every question. Make sure to bring lots of water!

The tour was supposed to cover the Colosseum and the Roman Forum in 3 hours. The tour was completely unbalanced… we spent 80% of the time at the Colosseum and barely 20% at the Roman Forum. Too much irrelevant information at the Colosseum and 300 meters from one entrance to another in the forum with pointed and questionable information regarding relevance… we are encouraged to walk it ourselves! This tour absolutely needs to be rebalanced to cover both hills of the Roman Forum and reduce the time at the Colosseum! Prepare for the heat with several bottles of water, a hat, and snacks.

The BEST! You cannot beat this tour. Our amazing tour guide made us so excited. He was completely knowledgeable and knew everything about everything that has to do with the Colosseum, Palatine Hill, and the ruins. My kids were with us and had a blast.. 10/10 all day.
