De Via dei Fori Imperiali strekt zich elegant uit tussen het Piazza Venezia en het Colosseum en is een majestueuze laan die door het hart van het oude Rome is uitgehouwen. Het Forum Romanum, ook bekend onder de Latijnse naam Forum Romanum, is een rechthoekig forum omgeven door de ruïnes van verschillende belangrijke oude overheidsgebouwen in het centrum van de stad Rome. Het politieke en zakelijke centrum van het oude Rome, de waarschuwingspaden, zijn bedekt met geschiedenis. Hier kwamen de burgers om naar toespraken te luisteren, om de senatoren te ontmoeten of om mensen als Julius Caesar of Cicero te zien. De ruïnes vertellen een verhaal, en het is het verhaal van Rome en zijn politiek, met die van de oude Curia (de Senaat) die nog steeds zichtbaar is, maar ook met de indrukwekkende marmeren zuilen van tempels die voor het eerst in 2010 werden opgetrokken. De Curia Julia, in opdracht van Julius Caesar en voltooid onder Augustus in 29 v.Chr., diende als de ontmoetingsplaats van de Romeinse Senaat. Gelegen in het Forum Romanum, symboliseerde de imposante rechthoekige structuur het politieke hart van het oude Rome. Opmerkelijk goed bewaard gebleven, geeft het nog steeds de macht en Autoriteit van de Senaat weer die ooit het lot van het keizerrijk vormden.
De tempel van Divus Julius werd in 29 v.Chr. door Augustus in het Forum Romanum gebouwd en eerde de vergoddelijkte Julius Caesar na zijn moord. Staande op de plaats van de crematie van Caesar, werd de tempel een plaats van cultus en politieke symboliek, waar burgers hulde konden brengen aan de eerste vergoddelijkte Leider van Rome. Tegenwoordig zijn er alleen nog ruïnes over, maar de site blijft het keerpunt van Republiek naar Keizerrijk belichamen.
Een van de heiligste plaatsen van het oude Rome, de Tempel van Vesta was gewijd aan de godin van de haard. Het cirkelvormige ontwerp symboliseerde de eeuwigheid en de continuïteit van de Romeinse staat, terwijl binnenin de eeuwige vlam brandde, verzorgd door de Vestaalse Maagden. Hoewel er vandaag de dag slechts fragmenten overblijven, roept de tempel nog steeds het diepe spirituele leven van het Forum Romanum op.
De Boog van Titus, gebouwd in 81 AD door keizer Domitianus, herdenkt de overwinningen van zijn broer Titus, waaronder de verovering van Jeruzalem. De triomfboog staat bij de ingang van het Forum Romanum langs de Via Sacra en is versierd met gedetailleerde reliëfs van de oorlogsbuit en de triomfstoet van de keizer. Het blijft een krachtig symbool van de keizerlijke glorie en architectonische meesterschap van Rome.
De Boog van Constantijn, die in 315 na Christus in de buurt van het Colosseum werd opgericht, viert de overwinning van keizer Constantijn op Maxentius in de Slag bij de Milvische Brug. Versierd met reliëfs en sculpturen hergebruikt van eerdere monumenten, symboliseert het zowel de grandeur van het keizerlijke Rome als de overgang naar een nieuw tijdperk onder Constantijns bewind. Tegenwoordig staat het als een van de meest iconische triomfbogen van de oude wereld.

We were 4 people. My father and his wife are both in 80s with very limited speed. Our Driver picked us up and was very patient and kind. Her brought us to the tour guide Barbara. She was very knowledgeable and walked at a slow pace as not to rush us. My father was very impressed with her knowledge of the area. After the Colosseum my Dad and his wife decided they could not do the Forum and the walking was tough. She called the driver brought them back to meet the driver and my husband and I went on to finish the tour. We really enjoyed the day and highly recommend.

We have been blessed to travel around the world and we were equally blessed to be on this amazing tour with Denis learning about the ancient history of Roma and the Colosseum. We had a private Colosseum, Roman Forum, and Palatine Hill tour with Denis, and he was excellent. He clearly knew the history, cared that our family stayed engaged, and gave us more time and attention than expected. The Forum, Palatine Hill views, and Colosseum were all much more meaningful because of his explanations. Dennis is also an excellent photographer and took the best picture of our entire trip. First up, they pick us up from our hotel and took us back after the tour which was fabulous! The drivers were friendly and contacted our tour guide so the pick up and drop off was seamless. Next the tour was guided by the wonderful Maria Serena Lanfranca. She was patient with our many questions and very well versed on the history. She had a visual guide for many of the ruins showing us the before and current looks. It was so helpful. I cannot stress enough to book with Maria Serena! She was fantastic! Best tour we had in Rome!
