Beautiful experience. Overlooked by many as its out of town. Well worth travelling there ( 35€ in a taxi) traffic was heavy. Quaint little village. Peaceful and relaxing. Gaudís work is to beheld .
A beautiful example of Gaudis work. Breathtaking in parts. Although its unfinished according to the original plans it feels complete . The audio device ( included in your pre purchased tkt is needed). The little village is beautifully serene. I found a small hole in the wall produce store selling locally produced fruit and vegetables. The tourist centre staff were very helpful. After two or more hours I was looking for somewhere to eat and drink. I found one ‘pub’ open but found it impossible to get served. There was definitely a prejudice towards non Spanish speaking travellers and with very poor internet signals I couldnt make myself understood.
A short walk from the train station, you can walk through the colony which is interesting and free. But for a small charge you can rent the audio guide and visit the Gaudi church which is very interesting. You buy the ticket and get the audio guide at the tourist information center. You have to leave a piece of identification with the dek which you will get back when you return the audio equipment. The staff is friendly and helpful. Allow about two hours to visit the colony and church. Then if you want to have lunch there are only two places in the colony that I could see. But a mile or so up the road there is the town where there are more options for eating. All in all a very interesting and pleasant way to spend a half a day.
I was disappointed that only the chapel was open to visitors, though maybe I did not see that in the tour description. Also the audio device I had worked only about 50% of the time. The little town was very clean and walking around to see all the beautiful brick structures was fun. €30 cab ride there and back made it an expensive trip, and still glad I went.
Building without any interest. It produces no emotion as an architectural work. A hodgepodge of constructional solutions, like experimental. Materials, solutions, finishes, crude, runaways. There is always something to highlight An inappropriate entry of 10 euros, plus the trip there. The Guell Colony, no such thing. For scholars and Gaudí lovers or trend followers.
It's not worth it, precious as all Gaudi's work
2 h of pure happiness in a calm atmosphere , serene.20 minutes by train from the Spanish Steps 1 metro ticket is enough. Entrance tickets are to be taken to the village information center.visit the crypt of the unfinished Church of Gaudy, then a route in the Guell city stopping in front of the main buildings (school, doctor, etc...) with the explanations of the audio guide..Deserves to be better known.
It is not really a crypt, since it is not under the ground, but it would be the lower part of the church that the heirs of Güell did not want to pay. A Gaudí work and no longer need to comment. We went on a guided tour and enjoyed both the explanations and the work with its design, the details... It was a first step before designing the Sagrada Familia of Barcelona.
When I first went to Barcelona, I was sure that I would know this impressive work by Gaudi, but when I arrived at the park Guell I found that the Guell crypt was in another place. So when I came back to Barcelona, I went to visit her. When I asked the taxi driver to take me to Guell's crypt, to my surprise he didn't know and didn't even know where he was staying, I showed him on the cell phone with GPS and we went to a neighboring city to Barcelona, about 35 minutes by car, the colony of guell was in anode, the taxi driver didn't want to leave because he told me it would be difficult for me to arrange another taxi to take me back. However, arriving there, I was informed that there was a subway station nearby and that was where we returned. Well the Cripta is indescribable, a dream fulfilled.
The crypt is exceptional and the girl who greets you very nice with a great laugh. What I didn't like at all and it's the third time I go are the girls from the tourist office where the tickets are bought. They're slutty and rude. If they see you're not Catalan, they criticize you. You should know that's dangerous because you never know how far the person in front of you can understand. Drs. I'd give them a PR course and a sympathy course.
