We had a great outing with Magdalena (can't remember her nickname!) and the other female guide (sorry, don't remember her name but she really knew her flora!). Learned the history, flora and fauna of Chiloe, saw three of the UNESCO wooden churches, walked the boardwalk to the Island of the Navigating Souls, visited the artisan shipbuilding business and lunched on curanto and Pisco Sours at a local restaurant.
This 6 hour tour was very informative history with our guides Guiermo and Marcella. We were met just outside the gate to port for a tour with 8 people. Really enjoyed the 1 km boardwalk to Aucar Island and the active shipyard building and restoring small ships. Wish we had more time at the end to experience the local cuisine at the end. We booked through Viator for local tour operator Turismo Pangue
The tour could have been much better. The only interesting part for us was the walk over a bridge to a small island. We stopped for lunch at 2:30 which was towards the end of tour and most people were scattering to find something to eat. The tour guides seem to mingle with only certain guests. One of them would charge ahead and start explaining things before everyone caught up with the line. Only gave it 4 stars because of the scenery
Tremendous experience I went in August ...and everything expeditious and cheap... Bus tickets. Accommodation meals. I went through a lot of places. And your people are the best 1000% recommended in February I will return without. Foul..
Very nice day seeing the countryside and learning about the island. the tour seemed very personal to the guide, wanting to show us the best of the island.
This was a very interesting experience. Our guide, Guillermo, met us at the cruise dock entrance & exuberantly whisked us off in his car. We drive to several villages & a beautiful waterfall. He was very knowledgeable of the plants and birds that we saw and that he pointed out to us. He told us a lot about the culture and the history of the island. All in all, it was a great tour and we really enjoyed it!
Thank you Charlotte for your comments. Have a great trip to Patagonia and a safe return home.
Magdalena was a great guide. It rained most the day, but we got to see some beautiful natural and historic sites, and lunch at the place she recommended was local and delicious. Chiloe is a quaint, one-of-a-kind place, and Magdalena was able to share its rich history with knowledge and passion. We highly recommend her.
Our guide, Guillermo, was excellent! He took us all over Chiloe Island and we never felt rushed. We saw many things including a beautiful waterfall, shipyard (amazing old world craftsmanship!), old wooden churches (UNESCO sites), and Island of Souls. Alex was a great driver too! We loved this tour!
Nice tour. I would give 5 stars however was surprised about 2 things. 1) the guide did not offer bathroom breaks and we had to ask. There is also a fee which we did not have (she paid for us) but it was uncomfortable to have to ask. Recommend a change jar for this purpose be in the Van and bathroom stops scheduled. 2) we had only an outdoor market with various booth type vendors for lunch. This would be okay however only one took credit cards and their machine didn’t work. Several people on the tour were not able to eat or had to borrow money from others. My opinion is this was not an ideal place for a lunch stop.
Thank you Rhonda, we will take your comments into consideration.
Know difficult places to visit on your own initiative, plus the willingness and knowledge of Cristian, our guide.
Gracias a ustedes por la confianza!!!!!!!!... Un Abrazo...
