Cloud Forest Night Walk in Monteverde -Monteverde Wild-

We had two incredible tours with Monteverde Wild. The experience was exceptional from our first contact. I had originally asked for a morning tour, but Oscar suggested a night tour as well, and I am SO glad I followed his suggestion. Both tours were unforgettable with many more animals than I thought we would see including two different kinds of monkeys, a sloth, numerous hummingbirds, colorful frogs, beautiful birds and even a herd of peccaries. Our guides, Jose for the morning and Oscar for the evening, were so knowledgeable and passionate about the cloud forest. Oscar shared his philosophy of guiding - that you never know if the person you are guiding has saved up for this for years and this is their trip of a lifetime so you give it your all every time. I thought that was touching and spoke to what kind of company this is. I couldn't recommend more highly!!

We had an incredible private night tour with Oscar from Monteverde Wild. His knowledge of the forest is truly profound—from the trees and plants to the smallest insects and birds. It felt like he knew every inch of the park and every other guide we passed! A quick tip for future hikers: This is a comprehensive 2-hour tour. It isn’t just a 'leisurely walk'; we explored almost every trail, including some steep sections and uneven terrain. We only wish we had more time to book other tours through Monteverde Wild. 10/10 would recommend!

Excellent night tour with Oscar. He is extremely knowledgeable about everything in the forest, all the plants, trees, animals, birds… truly incredible! We are a family with 3 teenagers and we all enjoyed the night walk, 10/10 would recommend!

I highly recommend Monteverde Wild. My husband and I were the only members of the group, and this was great as we had Oscar’s undivided attention and could ask any number of questions. Oscar was a very knowledgeable, attentive guide. He found interesting animals/insects but also kept up a steady stream of information about everything from the specific thing we were looking at to more general information about the cloud forest and Costa Rica. He gave in depth answers to all questions we had for him and was very personable.

You will probably mostly see beautiful frogs, incredible insects and some sleeping birds. Wonderful knowledge by Oscar! The sounds of the forest are enchanting.

Oscar was great. We saw some birds and a snake. We weren’t expecting National Geographic, but we thought we would see more animals

Our guide was amazing at spotting the animals, especially a sloth and a sleeping howler monkey. He was knowledgeable and fun! I would recommend this experience.

We booked the night guided tour and next morning Monteverde reserve morning walk with Monteverde Wild. We liked our quide (Oscar) a lot! Very knowledgable, passionate nature lover and guide! We enjoyed his company. One technicality to know: not all quides are equipped with the same types of telespopes. Some have more powerful devices (as did Oscar), including cellphone attachment on the telescope. So all group can see the focused image on the phone (and take photos which Oscar share with you later). We've noticed some other guides (almost half of those we met in the forest) have simpler and smaller scopes without a phone attachment mechanism. We really liked our tours. Even we didn't see many anymals. We only saw couple toocans, few other birds, a couple of snakes, spiders, tarantula, wild pig and many-many interesting plants.

Guides are extremely knowledgeable, and passionate about there job. We were able to see many critters.
