Klassieke walvissen spotten vanuit Dalvík Bij Akureyri Noord-IJsland

Beschrijving

Excellent whale watching. We saw 3 whales and some harbor porpoises. One of the whales was having a good time and really put on a show breaching out of the water 5 or 6 times and then rolling around for a bit before taking a deep rest dive. We bussed over to Dalvik from Siglufjordur. Cool trip including 3 tunnels cut through the hills. Upon arrival, you get fitted and put on a flotation suit. You can use the restroom here first. Then about a quarter mile walk from there to the boat. Takes 30+ minutes to sail out into the fjord where the animals hang out. We meandered there for about 2 hours. Beautiful fjord scenery in the background the whole time. Even spotted a glacier. Got a snack on the trip back to pier, cinnamon biscuit and hot chocolate. Good value for the price. Well run operation, these guys know what they are doing.
We were here as a group of three; you have to be able to handle the swell, otherwise it gets unpleasant. Otherwise a super nice experience, with sightings of a humpback whale and dolphins.
It is not a one-in-a-lifetime experience. I have done this at different places around the world. The circumstances are always different and since it is nature, we depend on the animals what we see. On this tour we received an additional coverall, which was not really necessary as there was only a little wind and the water was mostly flat. It takes a bit of time to get out there and then spot the whale(s). We were lucky to find one quickly. This one was pretty predictable. Diving and staying under for 8-9 minutes (sometimes less). We saw it dive about 7-8 times and was able to take some nice photos. In order to do this, you need a good lens and some experience. Later we saw 2 other whales, but when we got closer we didn't spot them anymore. On the way back there was hot chocolate and cinemon rolls. Thanks to or guide from Spain and the skipper.
This was a once in a lifetime experience. We got extremely lucky on our tour. We started by seeing a few dolphins, and then one whale. Soon after, the captain saw multiple whales in the distance and asked if we would be willing to extend our trip to see them. We ended up seeing over 40 humpback whales! Captain and tour guide said it was the most they have ever seen in one trip. Whole trip lasted about 4 hours but was so worth it. Highly recommend!
A fantastic whale watching experience! The tour was very well organised from start to finish, and the guides were knowledgeable, friendly, and passionate about the local wildlife. We were excited to see multiple humpback whales during the trip, which made for a truly memorable experience. Overall, it was an enjoyable outing and one I would happily recommend to others visiting the area.
Dress warmly for face like hat and scarf. They provide a warm suit to wear but it got chilly in the wind.
Fantastic experience on wooden boat, Mani. Well-organised, full body suit provided (it can be cold on the boat), good briefing then 3 hrs on the water. We saw two minke whales, two pods of harbour porpoises, and over the space of an hour or so repeated sightings of three individual humpback whales. Initially they were distant spouts but we quickly managed to get close enough to recognise individual whales diving with tail flukes in the air. Amazing! Really recommend this experience.
We went today and what an absolute phenomenal experience. The tour guides were superb, so friendly. Didn't gold bsck, once whales shown themselves the captain went straight over giving us the very best experience Cannot thank you enough
Despite the overcast and rainy weather in Akureryi, once we left the harbor, the skies cleared up. We saw a pair of Orcas and a pair of humpbacks, which we saw really close up! Just amazing! I booked the tour because it left from Dalvik, however they were leaving from Akyreryi instead. I was able to meet up with our guide, Klara, in Dalvik and ride with her. She was fantastic and I'm so glad I could ride with her. Book this tour!
Excellent experience. The fiord explored for sighting had several whales and the ship's captain did not spare efforts to approach them. Local is practically in the Arctic Circle. We took lots of pictures and saw lots of whales. Value paid was fully justified. Unforgettable tour
