Het slechtste van twee werelden. Deze begeleide wandeltocht combineert geschiedenis, humor en horror en slingert door het labyrint van Edinburghs sloten en steegjes, maar voert ook twee van de meest spookachtige plekken op de planeet binnen - de South Bridge Vaults EN de Covenanter's Prison in Greyfriars Graveyard. Elke Gids is een lokale Expert op het gebied van de fascinerende en gruwelijke geschiedenis van Edinburgh, met hun eigen unieke stijl en levering, zodat geen twee tours ooit hetzelfde zijn.
Deze tour waagt zich in het meest spookachtige gedeelte van Edinburghs legendarische Underground City, waar ooit een bevolking in totale ellende leefde. Zwart als Satans pyjama’s, met een fascinerende geschiedenis die daarbij past, werden deze gewelven eeuwenlang vergeten en pas onlangs ontsloten. Ga het deel van de South Bridge Vaults binnen dat bekend staat als Damnation Alley. Met goede reden. Deze donkere tunnels worden besluipt door een kwaadaardige aanwezigheid genaamd de South Bridge Entity.
Betreed het oude Greyfriars Graveyard, 's werelds meest spookachtige plek! We eindigen de tour in de Covenantor's Prison, een Vergrendeld gedeelte van een 16e-eeuws ommuurd kerkhof. Dit is het hol van de 'Mackenzie Poltergeist', het best gedocumenteerde bovennatuurlijke geval aller tijden. Aangezien City of the Dead de enige toegang heeft tot de Prison, hebben we alle 'aanvallen' op bezoekers daar kunnen vastleggen. En er zijn er duizenden geweest. Kan fysieke en mentale stress veroorzaken. Je komt op eigen risico.

We always try to do some sort of ghost tour when we travel and decided on this tour for this trip. Enjoyed it. Our guide (French guy) was very good! Very informative on the history, as well as what to potentially expect. The best part was the cemetery tour at the end. One person in our group felt that she may have had an encounter. Either that, or the person behind her yanked her backpack!
When we arrived our tour guide Sarah already dazzled my two teenagers as she had the looks and air of a Hogwarts teacher. Sarah captivated us throughout and seemed almost intertwined with the spooky underworld or Edinburgh. The tour was adrenaline raising scary, incredibly captivating and top level spooky, my teenage boys loved it and so did I, even though I was terrified within the vaults. If you get Sarah as your guide you’re in luck!! She whisks you through the underworld of Edinburgh, telling creepy tales, but with a sprinkling of humour 10 out of 10 entertaining, a must do!!
The Double Dead Tour was one of the highlights of our trip, and Ryan was a huge part of why. His energy, humour and incredibly down-to-earth personality made the whole experience so enjoyable. He was extremely knowledgeable, friendly and happy to answer any questions. He said how proud he is to work for city of the dead after years of working with other companies without the same exclusive access and it shows in his passion. The vaults were genuinely creepy and definitely got the heart rate going, while the exclusive experience at Greyfriars Kirkyard made the tour feel truly unique. Ryan did make a few jokes about the English, but as an Englishman I know the Scots have earned that right! 😂 I kept my nationality quiet, and it honestly made the Scottish experience even better! I really can't recommend this tour enough. If you get Ryan as your guide, you're in for a fantastic experience. 10/10! 👻 Ryan mate, you were absolutely amazing and if i were you i would be proud of how good you are at your job.
Being a fan of ghost tours in multiple locations, Alastair did a great job bringing that to life. He shared great history while making the tour very entertaining and bringing a spooky element. We had a fantastic time and enjoyed being able to see so much of the city we would not have otherwise.. I’d recommend comfortable shoes and being prepared for some steps and narrow passages.
The guide did an outstanding job describing the situation in the period in Edinburgh. It was tough and difficult times for the poor. The vaults were interesting. The stories were great.
An amazing experience that I strong recomend to do in Edinburgh. I wish to thank Ryan for his energi, knowledgment and humor. My family and I enjoyed so much this tour and we felt being a part of Edinburgh. Visiting the most haunted places and hearing spooky tales was definitly top 1 in our visit to Edinburg. Our guide Alistair was fantastic, very enthusiastic, extremely knowledgable and friendly. He really helped created an ambiance and was respectful to all cultures. Just a warning, there are a lot of narrow passageways and stairs involved (both up and down) but we had a great range of people in our group!
Nat was an absolutely fantastic guide on the Double Dead Tour! She brought incredible energy from start to finish and kept everyone engaged for the full two hours. Her storytelling was entertaining, well-paced, and full of personality, making Edinburgh’s history and ghost stories come alive. If you get the chance to have Nat as your guide, you’re in for a fun and memorable experience. Highly recommend!
