Chingaza Wildlife Páramo Adventure

We had an amazing 2days/1night tour with our guide Diego and it was just great. Everything was perfectly organized , the accommodation inside the park was great and the food delicious . Chingaza is just a unique place and has so much to offer . The combination of paramo and high altitude rainforest is just impressive . Same goes for the Animal sightings. We were lucky and got perfect views on the spectacled bear , deer , and beautiful birds. Thanks to all the team who make that happen .

Visiting the paramo habitat was a dream and this tour made it possible. Our tour guide Camilo was knowledgeable about the fauna and flora and the park’s history. Staff answered all questions quickly and provided important information so we were prepared and dressed for the weather. Renting the mud boots was a great idea. The hikes were amazing and our driver stopped along the way for us to take pictures of the splendid landscape. It was exciting to see a bear and the Andean eagle.

Diego was a very knowledgeable and attentive guide. Hector was a great driver who made a point to pick us up at the best spots. The 2 communicated well so that he was ready to pick us up as soon as we finished each trail. My son and I did this tour after a couple intense days of hiking already so we were quite tired, especially me. Diego was patient and very understanding of my needing to take breaks as needed. Be prepared for lots of rain and lots of mud! Overall we enjoyed our day very much!

A local friend recommended we visit Chingaza while in Bogota, and we are so glad we had this experience. Andes EcoTours picked us up at our hotel and drove us up into the mountains, where we stopped to pick up some snacks for lunch. It's a bit of a drive to the park, but we learned a lot about Bogota and the region from our guide Diego on the way. We did two ~2 km hikes in the park, pretty easy (but muddy), first in cloud forest and then in the paramo. We really enjoyed getting to experience both of these ecosystems. We didn't see a ton of wildlife, some birds and deer (and signs of bear) , but the plants were incredible. So many things were in bloom. And the views on the hikes and from the car were spectacular. Diego was super knowledgeable about the plants and animals, it made us slow down and really appreciate everything around us. Our driver Hector was always on the lookout for wildlife as well. Overall it was a great trip, and I would highly recommend to anyone visiting the city.

We had a wonderful day with our guide Digeo and driver. The Paramo was absolutely stunning, well worth a visit. Our guide Digeo was very knowledgeable and supportive, with excellent english. Very much recommend this trip.

Very informative and immersive tour led by Diego and Hector. Hotel pick up at 8:30 AM, then 30 minute drive up the mountain to the last city for supplies, Diego helped us get local arepas, sweets, and sandwiches to eat picnic style in the park. ~1.5 hour of driving to the first hike, about 75 minutes but not strenuous (1.2 miles) we stopped to observe birds, different plant species, and a long stop to see a bear! Rare sighting. ~35 minutes more driving to the second hike, also about 75 minutes ~1 mile. Amazing views too! About 2 hour drive back to the hotel. Diego was very knowledgeable and friendly guide, perfect English. Hector was a superb driver and helpful. Tips for future travelers: Pack rain gear! It could rain at any moment, you are in the clouds. If you get car sick, be prepared for a bumpy ride. Don’t bring single use plastic like granola/protein bars and non-reusable water bottles, the park rangers at the entrance search your bag for these — they do return it on the way down, or you could open them and put in something else. Bring a small amount of cash for snacks in the small town and one of the restrooms.

A stunning landscape with amazing wildlife. The guides were excellent and everything was very well planned.

This was the highlight of our trip to Bogota! A completely unique ecosystem with cloud forest as well as paramo sections. Beautiful misty landscape, incredible driver and guide, with tons of information about the unique environment we found ourselves in. A magical, otherworldly experience, with the highest caliber of companions. Hiking in rainboots at 4200m elevation was quite the humbling challenge.
