Onze zelfgeleide audiotour naar de Chichen Itza biedt een boeiende wandeling langs de belangrijkste monumenten van het archeologische park en wordt aangeboden via mobiele app voor iPhone & Android. Met behulp van de GPS-kaart navigeert u moeiteloos naar elke intrigerende site die de moeite waard is om te verkennen. Tijdens je tour met audiogids op je smartphone kom je de volgende gebouwen tegen en hoor je hun verhalen: Piramide van Kukulcan of El Castillo Een groot balveld Platform van Schedels Tempel van de krijgers Waarnemingspost Heilige Cenote En anderen De route omvat in totaal 16 punten, gerangschikt in een cirkelvormige route. Tijdens je reis doe je kennis op over verschillende onderwerpen: Hoe de Maya-economie was georganiseerd, inclusief de componenten van hun dieet. De godheden waarin de Maya's geloofden en hun betekenis in hun cultuur. De wetenschappelijke ontdekkingen die de Maya's deden voorafgaand aan Europees contact. Great experience we could listen to as we please.
This audio guide was a great way for me to be able to visit Chichen Itza without having to join a big tour group or hire a private guide (1300 pesos at the gate 😬). For me, it was a bit light on information at a couple of stops - but it did provide a nice route to walk that built up to the most impressive ruins really nicely, and with the combination of this plus the text boards at each stop (which were in English), I was happy with the visit. Google on the way home also helped fill some gaps for me! There are a couple of places where the info point is not quite in the right location, and the walking path mapped can’t always be followed exactly because the site has obviously roped off some sections since it was produced. But these are little things, and for the price point I’d definitely use one of these again.
We’re really glad the audio guide helped you explore Chichén Itzá at your own pace without needing to join a big group (or negotiate with the guides at the gate 😅). It’s great to hear the route worked well and built up to the most impressive ruins — that’s exactly how we designed the walk. It has a neat app including a map, with likely some additional features, but we also booked a guide so didn’t use that part. We listened to the tour on our way from Tulum. It added some info, so for $8 it was worth it. We would probably have been fine with just a guided tour and listening to some YouTube videos on the way. That said if we didn’t get a guided tour then I think that this tour would be a great deal - basically like the audio tours that you can sometimes rent onsite, except also with a map.
Sounds like you used TouringBee in “hybrid mode” — half audioguide, half live guide, plus a bit of YouTube seasoning 😄 We’re glad the audio still added value on the way and felt worth it, even alongside a guided tour. You’re absolutely right: when there’s no live guide involved, TouringBee really comes into its own — like an onsite audio tour, but without the queues, the schedules, or the pressure to keep up with a group (and with a map that actually knows where you are). Great audiobook! Lot of details about the Mayas and their way of life, highly recommend if you cannot afford a physical guide. Wish it had given more details about the carvings on some of the buildings though.

This audioguide was way better than I expected! The stories are well told and super interesting. I liked that I could take breaks, sit in the shade, then keep going. Chichen Itza is amazing, and this made it even more special.
