Een van de prominente archeologische vindplaatsen op het schiereiland Yucatan in Mexico, waarvan ooit werd aangenomen dat het directe migratie of verovering vanuit centraal Mexico vertegenwoordigde, onthult nu een ander perspectief. Hedendaagse interpretaties suggereren dat de aanwezigheid van centrale Mexicaanse stijlen eerder het resultaat is van culturele verspreiding dan van directe invloed op de Maya-beschaving.
Bezoek Ik Kil, een betoverende cenote met een Maya-naam die zich vertaalt naar 'The Place of The Winds'. Duik in de rijke historische betekenis van deze heilige plek voor de oude Maya-beschaving terwijl je ongeveer 48 meter (157 ft) afdaalt in de diepte. Omringd door weelderig groen gebladerte en versierd met sierlijke wijnstokken die van bovenaf naar beneden komen, straalt de cenote een rustige en magische sfeer uit en nodigt u uit om uzelf onder te dompelen in het verfrissende water. PICKUP LOCATIE : ◘ Tour met kleine groep / Privé tour : uw accommodatie of een andere plaats naar keuze tussen Cancun en Playa del Carmen. PICKUP TYPE : ◘ Tour met kleine groep : gedeeld = ophalen en afzetten kan tijd kosten (omdat we misschien op andere deelnemers moeten wachten of op hen moeten wachten). ◘ Privé tour : privé = u vertrekt onmiddellijk (geen behoefte om te gaan of te wachten op andere deelnemers). MINIMUM AANTAL DEELNEMERS : ◘ Tour in kleine groep : we hebben 3+ deelnemers nodig om de groepsreis te bevestigen (anders kan deze worden geannuleerd met een volledige terugbetaling 2 dagen voor de tour). ◘ Privé tour : 1 + (de tour is 100% bevestigd voor elke groepsgrootte). GROEPSGROOTTE : ◘ Rondleiding in kleine groepen : maximaal 12 reizigers. ◘ Privé tour : elke grootte (alleen uw groep zal deelnemen). MAATWERK : ◘ Rondleiding in kleine groepen : Niet aanpasbaar. ◘ Privé tour : De tour is aanpasbaar, wat betekent dat de tijd die u doorbrengt in elke bestemming kan worden aangepast aan uw behoeften. Als u bijvoorbeeld een plaats wilt bezoeken die geen deel uitmaakt van de standaardroute (bijvoorbeeld attractie, restaurant of markt), kunt u dit op gratis basis doen als dit bezoek (1) nog steeds past bij de standaardduur van de tour en (2) geen grote wijziging van de route inhoudt. Als aan beide voorwaarden is voldaan, kunnen we het verblijf op een bepaalde locatie die in het tourprogramma is opgenomen inkorten, zodat u tijd heeft om de plaats te bezoeken waarin u geïnteresseerd bent. Andere wijzigingen, zoals het verlengen van de duur van de tour, het wijzigen van de route en het toevoegen van extra deelnemers, moeten ten minste 48 uur voor de tour aan het bedrijf worden doorgegeven en zullen een extra vergoeding met zich meebrengen. Michel was a fantastic guide. He was extremely knowledgeable and answered all our questions. The tour was perfect with an early start to Chichen Itza to beat the heat and crowds, then across to Ik Kil to swim in the cenote. We were the only people there for our dip. We finished the tour at Valladolid, looking at the towns highlights. I would recommend this tour to all.

We just cannot say enough nice things about our driver and guide, Nef. He was 100% fluent in English, kind/friendly, very entertaining, and funny (which is hard to do in a 2nd language). He knew so much about everything! He was very informed and prepared about Chichen Itza. Everywhere we went other guides & drivers came over to speak to him so we know he is popular and has been there a lot. The drive from our Cancun hotel was a little longer than expected because of highway construction. It took close to 3 hours. So this would not be a great trip for little kids. But Nef entertained us the entire drive with antidotes about the little towns we drove through, native animals and trees, history of the Yucatan and much more. The Cenote we visited, Ik Kil, was the site of the Red Bull Cliff Diving. Advice: Leave Cancun as early as your group will allow. By 7:45 AM at the latest! It's crowded to get into the ruins and there will be a line at the entrance to park. Do not bring valuables, although Nef is happy to protect your bags. It would just be better to leave them at your hotel rather than risk them in the Cenote lockers. Nef called the night before to confirm and he picked us up exactly when promised. It was well with the money to have a private tour and be able to have some control over the timing of our day. Plus, we had his full attention! #NefGuiaCancunGuides

During our one-week stay in Cancun, we booked this tour to Chichen Itza/Cenote Ik Kil/Valldolid. We cannot recommend it enough! Michel was our tour operator, and when I say this guy is top notch, it is an understatement. My husband has had some mobility issues, so it was necessary that we travel with a scooter. Michel was instrumental in helping load and unload the scooter and tailored our tour to make sure we incurred the least path of resistance with the scooter. In addition, Michel provided a top-notch tour of our sites, answering all our questions with authoritative knowledge. Booking the private tour enabled us to choose our pick up time and the pace of our tour. Michel accommodated everything impeccably!

Abraham was a very knowledgeable guide and he was willing to pick us up very early so we’d be at Chichén Itzá before it got too crowded. As a result we also got to the cenote before the crowds which was awesome. Would recommend doing a tour, otherwise you miss out on so much historical context!

We had a very pleasant Chichzen Itza/Ik-Kil Cenote/Valladolid tour with Vibe driver Mischel. Beyond the fact that Mischel is a safe driver with lots of humor he is also a very kind man with a good knowledge of historic Mayan facts and not afraid to give you a taste of local Mexican streetfood. Great tour!! Highly recommend!! My wife and I were in Cancun in December of 2022. We booked the private Chichen Itzá and Cenote tour. Our guide Mischel was great!! He was professional and fun!! He gave great historical info and gave an fun tour!! I would highly recommend the tour and super highly recommend Mischel as the tour guide!! The drive is approximately 3 hours each way to Chichen Itzá. The SUV was nice, new and comfortable. Lunch good but not great. The day was long. Take your bathing suits if you plan to swim in the Cenote. Bring sunscreen. Cold waters were provided. Please be prepared to tip the wait staff at the restaurant . . . smh . . . I saw several people not tipping (lunch was paid for as part of tour but the tip is not). Please also tip the guide if you feel they have provided a great service which our guide did! Enjoy!!!

I used Expedia to book day tours in 10+ countries and they are always good, including the guides. But I can say Miguel was the best guide for any of those, primarily because he was so relatable to me and my fiance, both in English and Spanish. I understand Spanish well, but not well enough to rely on it, while she is relatively fluent. Miguel joked with us in both English and Spanish, and spoke to so many people we saw throughout the day - from the road-workers when we stopped, to other tour guides at Chichen Itza, to the Cenote, etc. He was awesome. Chichen Itza speaks for itself and is unbelievable. The cenote was more than expected and jumping off the ledge was a highlight for me. My fiance and I both greatly enjoyed Chichen Itza, and having a private guide is very nice because obviously you tailor the entire day. Valladolid is nice and very interesting historically for being the most eastern city for the Spanish on the Yucatan Peninsula (thanks for info Miguel). You can buy things there, but go off the main square (thanks Miguel). The drive suuuuuuper long. 2.5-3 hours each way, and we have a private SUV. I can imagine on a bus, it would be longer. If going with a small enough group, consider doing it private. All told, Miguel was very good at his job and it shows. Chichen Itza is more than you will expect, the Cenote as well, and Valladolid is a nice way to end the day - which is long, 12 hours, could have been more with traffic. We got lucky.
