Kom meer te weten over het leven en werk van Louis Comfort Tiffany tijdens een bezoek aan enkele van Chicago's meest magnifieke kunstglas- en mozaïekinstallaties, elk ontworpen en vervaardigd door de Tiffany Glass and Decorating Company. Aan het einde van de 19e eeuw herleefde de Arts and Crafts-beweging de belangstelling voor decoratief glas. Nieuwe, goed aangeschreven huizen en openbare gebouwen uit die tijd werden als onvolledig beschouwd zonder decoratief glas of mozaïeken. Louis Comfort Tiffany, de meest vooraanstaande beoefenaar van deze kunst, kreeg veel aandacht voor een kapel die hij ontwierp voor de World's Columbian Exposition in 1893 in Chicago. Tegenwoordig herbergt de stad een van de grootste collecties Tiffany-kunstglas in de Verenigde Staten. Deze rondleiding introduceert enkele opmerkelijke voorbeelden van Tiffany's werk. Susan was a great docent. She was very detailed and passionate about the tour and was very willing to answer questions. The tour itself went through a few buildings of significance and was very informative and worthwhile. Parts of it are outside but it’s only a couple of blocks walk between sites.

This was an excellent tour and Joan really knows her stuff! She was enthusiastic, personable, clear and friendly. I felt I learned a lot about Tiffany and the glass and the tour itself is a real WOW! If you want to be stunned, take this tour.

Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and affable! We enjoyed it very much. The only issue was finding the exact spot to meet. It would be helpful to provide more specific information for future tours.

I was so delighted to find out that the CAC offers a Tiffany walking tour because I've always admired Tiffany glass. The Tiffany walking tour shows you some of the magical work created by Tiffany studios over the years. Who knew we had so many Tiffany gems in Chicago?! Well, on this tour you get to tour my favorite building (Chicago Cultural Center) and see the illustrious Tiffany dome and more. You'll also get to check out the Tiffany mosaic ceiling inside Macy's on State Street AND check out a gorgeous mosaic art piece in the Marquette building. Take this light walking tour to see some magnificent glass and mosaic work across downtown Chicago!

Our docent was so knowledgeable about the locations of Louis Comfort Tiffany's major work in the downtown area of Chicago...all in buildings we might not randomly go in, or in interiors we might not look up in. An excellent 90 minutes of exploration (mostly in air-conditioning, hooray!) and education and beauty.

The glass was fabulous and our tour guide was very knowledgeable and pleasant. I was blown away by the beauty of the glass. The fact that these spaces are available to the public makes it even more special!
