We beginnen de tour vanuit Chiang Mai, waarbij we ongeveer 90 minuten over de weg reizen.
Begin bij Mae Kachan Hot Springs, een perfecte plek om te ontspannen in warm mineraalwater voordat je dieper Chiang Rai intrekt. Het is een geweldige stop om op te frissen voordat de belangrijkste attracties van de dag.
We stappen weer in de bus voor een korte rit van ongeveer 15 minuten
Uw volgende stop is een heuvel stam dorp, de thuisbasis van de fascinerende lange nek Mae Kachan stam. Hier zult u getuige zijn van de unieke traditie van vrouwen die messing ringen dragen om hun nek te verlengen, een culturele praktijk die generaties lang is doorgegeven. De levendige handgemaakte ambachten, kleurrijke kleding en gastvrije gemeenschap bieden een kijkje in hun rijke erfgoed. Een bezoek aan dit dorp is niet alleen een visuele reis, maar ook een verrijkende culturele ervaring, die inzicht geeft in de tradities en veerkracht van deze opmerkelijke stam.
We gaan weer op pad om naar de volgende bestemming te gaan.
Je volgende stop is de Witte Tempel, een bijzondere creatie van kunstenaar Chalermchai Kositpipat. Het opvallende geheel witte ontwerp symboliseert puurheid, terwijl het ingewikkelde glaswerk Boeddha’s wijsheid weerspiegelt. Binnen mengen surrealistische muurschilderingen boeddhistische symbolen met moderne beelden, waardoor het een unieke fusie is van spiritualiteit en hedendaagse kunst. Het is niet alleen een visueel wonder maar ook een diepgaande ervaring.
We stoppen een uur voor optionele lunch.
Nog een korte busrit brengt ons naar de volgende bestemming.
Vervolgens wacht de prachtige Blauwe Tempel, bekend om zijn levendige blauwe interieur en gouden accenten. De mystieke sfeer wordt versterkt door ingewikkelde ontwerpen en serene Boeddhabeelden. De moderne maar traditionele stijl van de tempel zorgt voor een boeiende en kleurrijke ervaring, met drakensculpturen die de ingang bewaken en een vreedzame Boeddha binnen.
Nog een korte busrit naar de volgende halte.
Onze reis gaat verder naar de Hauyplakang Tempel, een vredige spirituele oase bekend om zijn indrukwekkende negen verdiepingen tellende pagode. Als je elke verdieping beklimt, kom je boeddhistische beelden en prachtig houtsnijwerk tegen. De tempel is ook beroemd om het standbeeld van Guan Yin, de Godin van Barmhartigheid, dat mededogen symboliseert. De panoramische uitzichten vanaf de pagode zijn adembenemend, waardoor het een hoogtepunt van de reis is.

A great tour! We were nervous it would feel rushed, but it was well paced and we didn’t feel like we needed extra time at any of the spots. Our guide Nat was incredibly informative and shared with us so much about Chiang Rai and Thailand as a whole. She taught us common phrases, how to count, and even what our names are in Thai! Nat definitely went above and beyond. She is the best tour guide I’ve experienced thus far. The tour is a large group (40 people) but it didn’t feel crowded once we were at the spots. Super organized and a great day trip!

Great way to see multiple temples and landmarks in one trip. Chiang Rai is about 3 hours from Chiang Mai so this excursion makes it very convenient when visiting Chiang Mai. Highly recommended!

We had Kavee as a guide and her many years of knowledge, history and passion for all the different locations giving a brilliant inisight of the Karen culture and temples, which greatly enhanced the entire experience. Nothing was ever too much trouble and despite requiring specific deadlines to keep the trip itinerary on time, we never felt rushed (even when people arrived back at the coach a little late). Very enjoyable experience, but as per the itinery suggestions, don't book if you have an evening flight on the same day, as the time window is not cast in stone and can take up to the suggested maximum of 13.5 hours if you have a few stragglers that push the time constraints, which is outside the guide's control.
