2 EXTREME TOURS AANBIEDING. BEGIN IN DE WOLKEN EN EINDE OP DE MAAN. CHACALTAYA - Het was een skigebied, met slechts één mechanische lift, geplaatst boven een gletsjer, ook wel Chacaltaya genoemd. Verder was er een restaurant en een chalet voor toeristen. Veel bezoekers gingen het hele jaar door naar de berg. Het was een algemeen vermaak voor de midden- en hogere klassen, die hun dagen daar doorbrachten. VALLE DE LA LUNA - een doolhof van canyons en gigantische torens. De formaties, voornamelijk samengesteld uit klei en zandsteen, zijn gemaakt door de aanhoudende erosie van bergen door de sterke winden en regens van het gebied. Een van de meest adembenemende kenmerken van Valley de la Luna is de gevarieerde pallet, variërend van heldere beige tinten tot delen van rood en donkerpaars. Dit natuurlijke fenomeen is te wijten aan de grote variatie in mineraalgehalte tussen elke individuele berg, waardoor kleurrijke composities en indrukwekkende optische illusies op de geërodeerde heuvels ontstaan.

Chacaltaya Ski Resort bevindt zich op een hoogte van 5.375 m (17634 ft) boven zeeniveau. Het is 's werelds hoogste skigebied, of liever het was. U zult de overblijfselen zien van wat het hoogste skigebied ter wereld was. Je maakt een maximale tocht van 2 uur tot aan het resort, waar je een adembenemend uitzicht op La Paz en de omliggende bergketens zult zien. De gids legt de geschiedenis van de plaats uit en neemt je mee naar plaatsen waar je prentbriefkaarten gaat nemen!
Valle de La Luna (Moon Valley), rots- en klei hoge torenspitsformaties geërodeerd van een berg, een van de dingen die Neil Armstrong zag toen hij op de maan was. Volgens lokale gidsen kreeg Valley de Luna zijn naam nadat Neil Armstrong de site blijkbaar had bezocht en opmerkte hoe het landschap leek op dat van de maan. De gidsen begeleiden u naar elke contour van dit geweldige landschap. Het is echt spectaculair

Absolutely one of my highlights in Bolivia! Where in the world can you get up to an altitude of 5400m above sea level without any mountain climbing equipment!!! Spectacular! I am 62 ! If I can do it , you can do it too. Moon valley is quite amazing tii
The Guide Ricardo was very friendly and attentive, but the stay time at the Chacaltaya was only 1 hour, unlike what is stated in the description, which ended up being a little frustrating for not giving time to go to the second summit as well as taking photos. The whole tour in both places ended up being very busy and we chose to stay in Vale de la Luna, dispensing the Guide, to enjoy the place more because 1 hour is not enough.
Ricardo is an excellent guide, fluent in English and Spanish. Knowledgeable about the mountains and many other things Bolivia. Also David is a phenomenal driver!
It's a pretty rough road to get to Chacaltaya, but the driver seemed to know what he was doing. Unfortunately when we arrived it started snowing hard so there wasn't much to see, but the experience was great nonetheless. Our guide was great, with a lot of enthusiasm and energy. He gave some interesting facts about the mountain and the history of Valle de la Luna. The only negative is that they were a bit late picking us up in the morning. For the price it was more than worth it!
The company told me the day before that this tour was not available despite my reservation. They offered me another interesting ride. However, I was sick because of the altitude and they had to meet a doctor by chance to finally give me oxygen. Although I was severely ill at the beginning of the tour, they continued to climb even higher and my condition worsened. I didn't feel my health was the priority of this company.
I had booked this experience and planned my trip accordingly. The evening before the trip, they cancelled the whole trip, although I had gotten a final confirmation upon booking. Not a serious organization, dont book there!!!!!
Many apologies, for your time and changing your plans. Unfortunately, due to the pandemic, we did not have any other tourists for that tour on that day. we waited until the last moment not to cancel but we didn't get it...sorry

We started by Valle de Luna and it was nice. It is quite simple and the tour takes around 1 hour. Ya Chacaltaya was pretty legal. The climb is intense but nothing impossible and the view from above compensates for all the effort. I recommend taking the Sorojchi pill because it is too high and the head hurts. Always have water and some snack.

The tour was punctual contacted us to indicate the meeting point, we set off with little expectation for the weather, but when we arrived we were surprised to see the wonderful place. You need to wear boots if you want to reach the top, otherwise you can wait in a restaurant until everyone finishes the tour, you must also wear quite warm and waterproof clothes. The guide tells us in detail the characteristics of the place , as a suggestion the place does not have an adequate bathroom in chacaltaya .
