Je kunt Boedapest net zo goed “Food-a-pest” noemen, omdat de Hongaarse hoofdstad bruist van de heerlijke restaurants, en tijdens deze foodtour met prioriteitstoegang helpen we je eten als een lokale inwoner, zonder planning. De tour begint bij een oude synagoge, omdat veel van de Hongaarse keuken sterk is beïnvloed door de Joodse cultuur en traditie. Je krijgt het beste van twee werelden als het gaat om de gastronomische scene van de stad, van lokale geheimen tot high-end plekken. Eerst probeer je heerlijke streetfood zoals traditionele Hongaarse soep en Lángos, een gefrituurd flatbread, en spoel je het weg met lokaal Dreher bier. Na het genieten van de excentrieke sfeer van de feeststraten van de stad, gaan we naar chiquere plekken voor een diner. Proef Hongaarse klassiekers zoals kippaprika, een Hongaars comfortfood met gestoofde kip en paprika en een shotje Pálinka. We sluiten de tour af met zoete wijn uit Tokaji, de beroemde wijnstreek van Hongarije, en somlói, een kleine taart met vla.

Vervolgens duiken we dieper in op Joodse invloeden op de Hongaarse keuken terwijl we door District 7 dwalen, een historische Joodse wijk met de grootste synagoge van Europa. Vandaag de dag bruist het van het bruisende nachtleven, bezaaid met beroemde 'ruïnebars' en trendy restaurants - Instagram-waardige plekken die nog steeds de Joodse wortels van het gebied eren. Uw lokale Gids leidt u door de straten, vertelt de geschiedenis en de connectie met Hongaarse smaken, voordat u authentiek straatvoedsel proeft. Geen gebruiksvoorwerpen nodig, breng gewoon nieuwsgierigheid en eetlust! Je eet onderweg als een local voordat je je vestigt op een paar proeverijen.
Vervolgens stappen we in de glanzendere kant van Boedapest, dwalend door de meest chique straten. U stopt bij charmante, sfeervolle restaurants om klassieke Hongaarse gerechten te proeven, terwijl u geniet van de stijlvolle sfeer van de stad. De tour eindigt met een zoete noot, waardoor je de perfecte traktatie krijgt voordat je eropuit gaat om te genieten van de nacht met je nieuwe foodie vrienden!

This walking food tour was amazing. Eszti was an excellent guide who looked after everyone’s dietary needs, explained all the food and drinks to us, and created a really warm vibe for the group.
Our group of 5 enjoyed a great food tour with our guide, Peter. Local food and drink, mixed with culture and history and friendly group, what could be better? The 4 food stops were well thought out and well spaced and left us very satisfied.
Great evening tour! It was a small group of seven (two couples and three solo travelers), which made the atmosphere relaxed and friendly. The tour was informative, well-paced, and a great way to explore Budapest without feeling rushed. Eszti was a wonderful host - friendly, quick-witted, intelligent, and with a great sense of humor. She made everyone feel welcome and kept the evening engaging from start to finish. P.S. Don't forget to ask Eszti about her mom's "special lángos"! 😉

Our guide was very good and individually we would give her four stars so that wasn’t the problem. Issue 1 was we paid for a small group tour. 18 very nice folks showed up. Not a small group so either TripAdvisor or Carpe Diem is getting greedy. We expected less than 10. Also, without a quiet box and so many people we were often out of earshot and lost out on local content being offered. Issue 2 was this was advertised as a food and beverages tour. One beer and a very small shot makes part of this statement misleading. We have taken similar tours in Melbourne, Barcelona and Lisbon with TripAdvisor and been very satisfied, so this makes tour doubly disappointing. We think this tour needs a rethink.

We paid for the Carp Diem food Tour in Budapest. We didn’t know what to expect but this tour was incredible. The several places we went to gave us huge portions of true Budapest food and we tried so many great dishes. Most of all, our guide Kelly made it so much fun and provided some great input on the history and current life in Budapest. She was a very special young woman. It appeared that the group of 12 people had a delightful time.
