Wine farms with a friend

Gonzalo took us around the wineries as if he were a friend showing us around town. We explored boutique wineries with such a casual familiarity, he made the wine experience that much more accessible . I cannot recommend his services enough.

The guide you’ve been looking for!

Gonzalo was our private driver for five days of wine tasting in Santiago. He was always on time with a clean vehicle and a warm, pleasant disposition. His knowledge of the area, the wineries, and his connection with the staff made for very pleasurable visits. If you are considering wine tasting in the region around Santiago, you couldn’t pick a better guide than Gonzalo.

Gonzalo was fabulous!...

Gonzalo was fabulous! Great communication before the tour, timely pickup, clean car, impressive English (and patient with our poor Spanish), full of information, and overall was such good company! We went to three wineries and one local lunch spot — all were wonderful.

Wine tour in Casablanca

The perfect day in Casablanca. Gonzalo was the perfect guide, the itinerary was amazing and he kept us entertained with all the stories . We visited 3 wineries and a local restaurant for lunch. All venues were slightly different and fabulous. I would recommend this tour again and again.

Wonderful Day Exploring Casablanca Wineries

Our guide Gonzalo was fantastic! We gave him very little input, and he brought us to four wonderful wineries that suited our palates. We would absolutely tour with him again! Highly recommend!

We spent the entire day...

We spent the entire day with Gonzalo, and he is such a delight! We learned a ton about the Casablanca region from the various wineries - we particularly loved Emiliana for the beautiful setting and Antillo + Mochi for the educational experience. Note that the tour includes the price of one tasting. Gonzalo will take you just about anywhere, but after the first stop, you pay your way at each winery (all very reasonable). If you want a quiet and laid back day outside of Santiago, go for it!

Amazing Experience!

We kicked off our honeymoon with this private tour from Gonzalo and could not recommend it enough! We drank great wine, got lots of knowledgeable explanations about the wine making process, had some incredible Chilean food, and had a bunch of fun with Gonzalo the whole time. He is very knowledgeable and caters the tour to your every wish. On top of that he seemingly knows everyone and has all kinds of connections to make it the best experience out there. Would definitely recommend!

What better way to start a honeymoon than with good wines and recommendations? We'll find the best of each place. Hugs! Gonzalo.

Things to know before booking

This rating requires some explanation that I think anyone booking should know in order to be happy with their experience. Positives: Our guide, Gonzalo, was wonderful. He’s a delightful person with great humor, lots of laughs, and plenty of insight into local Chilean life and history. He also gives guests flexibility on scheduling and winery selection, which is a key reason to book this experience. I chose this tour for my friend and me specifically because I asked to visit wineries I hadn’t been to before, and he was open to that. Ultimately, we visited three I had already been to and two new ones. Our group was also excellent—a great mix of people, and we all truly enjoyed each other’s company. One of the best parts of group wine tours is the human element, and in that regard, this experience was wonderful. Negatives: Overall, I found parts of the description misleading—not in a way that made the day bad, but in a way that would matter to regular wine-tour enthusiasts. 1. Wine tasting inclusion: The tour is advertised as a wine tasting experience. Given the price, I assumed the tastings were included, as they had been on a previous Casablanca tour I took at the same cost. In the fine print, it does say only one tasting is included—but we never actually had that “included tasting.” At the first winery, we were given a charcuterie board and one bottle of red wine to share among the group of five. This was presented as the tasting. Having done a formal tasting at that same winery the prior year—with six samples and explanations—this did not resemble an actual tasting. I even asked for a bottle of white to try because I was confused about what we were doing there. It still wasn’t a structured tasting, just shared wine with snacks. 2. Second winery (the only true tasting): Our second stop was a beautiful organic winery—exactly the kind of unique place I had asked for—and this was a proper tasting: six wines, a charcuterie board, and time with the owner. It was excellent. However, the group was surprised when we were asked to pay $40 per person for this tasting plus whatever bottles we bought, especially since most places waive tasting fees with purchases. More importantly, we thought this was the included tasting. It wasn’t. When I asked, Gonzalo reiterated that the first shared bottle had been our included tasting. Most of us felt this was a stretch, but we paid and moved on. 3. Remaining winery visits: From that point forward, it became clear that the remaining stops were simply casual visits where we purchased bottles to share rather than participating in actual tastings. Gonzalo kindly bought us a bottle at the third winery, seemingly because he could tell we were disappointed, but it still wasn’t a substitute for a structured tasting experience. There were no further tasting reservations—just “show up and buy wine” stops. Not inherently bad, but certainly not what you expect from a “wine tasting tour.” 4. Scheduling: Traffic added about 30 minutes to the drive, which can happen, but it resulted in a rushed feeling throughout the day—even though the later stops didn’t require reservations. There was a constant sense of needing to move quickly, which took away from the usual relaxed pace of wine touring. 5. Lunch: Lunch was stated upfront as not included, which is normal for group tours. My friend asked about dining at Casa del Bosque, but Gonzalo discouraged it due to price and suggested a local Chilean restaurant instead. This contributed to more timing pressure as he repeatedly mentioned the owner was “waiting for us.” When we arrived, the restaurant was completely empty, so the urgency felt odd. The food was good—not extraordinary—but we were happy to support a local business. My friend had a flight later that evening, so we needed to be finished by 7:30pm, but the pressure to get to the restaurant seemed disconnected from our actual timing needs. 6. Transportation: The listing said we’d be in a luxury SUV, but the vehicle was the guide’s personal car. It was fine, but “luxury” would be an overstatement. We were cramped in the third row, and with six guests, it would have been uncomfortable. Overall, I couldn’t shake the feeling that the value didn’t match the cost—especially considering my previous tour at the same price included three full tastings and transportation in a sprinter van. I would encourage future bookers to compare options carefully and make sure the structure and inclusions match what you are hoping for in a wine-tasting experience.

"We sincerely appreciate your comments, which we take into account for the continuous improvement of our experiences. However, for the sake of transparency for future clients, we must clarify several points related to the structure of the tour and the expectations created during the day: 1. Schedule Changes and Logistics (Lost Time) Out-of-Range Pickup: This was a last-minute booking, and you requested to start later because one member of your party was in a work meeting. We agreed to pick up this individual in an area outside the established range, which, combined with traffic, resulted in additional costs for fuel and tolls, and significantly reduced the time available for the first winery. Time Compensation: Despite the delay, our goal was to ensure a great experience. We offered an iconic wine bottle of excellent quality (an 8-variety blend) and a pairing board of local and organically produced items to start the day. 2. Regarding Tastings and Service You requested to try a white wine, which was offered without problem. Unfortunately, prioritizing the available time (which was reduced due to the initial delay) prevented it from being served with the desired immediacy. Exclusive Experience: To fulfill your request to visit different wineries than those previously visited, we secured a fantastic private meeting with the owner and winemaker of a small winery. This included a tour and tasting of 5 high-quality, exclusive wines, along with a conversation lasting over two hours. Additional Cost: As indicated in the description, the cost of this type of premium tasting (which is entirely reasonable for two people) is not included in the base tour price, something you were informed of beforehand. 3. Flexibility in Lunch and Extra Services Lunch Option: We offered lunch options within the standard operating hours (winery or local restaurant). You rejected both, requesting to visit two more wineries, thus missing the winery's lunch window. Extraordinary Effort: We made a special request to the chef and owner of a local restaurant, who waited for us for an after-hours lunch (6:00 PM), exceeding their operating hours, in an effort to accommodate you. The Tour and Costs: Our price includes fuel, tolls, the platform commission, and a full day of service. We strive to offer quality over quantity, and we have updated our description to make the available options and extra costs clearer. We deeply regret that, despite all the effort, special arrangements, and the extraordinary commitment of our team to meet your non-standard requirements, the experience was not to your complete satisfaction."
