De Atheners konden geen betere plek vinden om de tempel voor hun God van de zee te bouwen. Deze ongelooflijke temenos ligt 60 meter boven de zeespiegel en biedt de bezoeker een geweldig uitzicht over de Egeïsche Zee. Rijd langs de Atheense Rivièra en bezoek de tempel van Poseidon in slechts 5 uur.

We doorkruisen de buitenwijken van Athene om te genieten van de kustgebieden, de Atheense Rivièra.
We zullen door Voula rijden.

Bij het betreden van de site ziet u de dominerende tempel van Poseidon, de oude Griekse god van de zee, omringd door de overblijfselen van hoererij, de poort (portieken) en huizen. Dichtbij zijn ook de overblijfselen van de tempel Athena Souniada te zien. Naast zijn unieke locatie en zijn archeologische belang, is Kaap Sounio ook beroemd om zijn adembenemende zonsondergang en uitzicht op de Griekse eilanden. Het wordt terecht beschouwd als een van de meest romantische plekken in Griekenland.
We rijden terug naar Athene.

The experience was amazing! Panos was very knowledgeable about both the history and mythology. I had 2 daughters with me, 8 yo and 12 yo. He was able to keep them engaged. Of course the temple of Poseidon was an incredible site that was a must-see after the acropolis. On the way back he stopped at one of the villages and we had an amazing authentic Greek dinner at a restaurant on the sea with the waves lapping at the ground about 2 meters from my toes. This was our second tour with Panos and he takes extra time to get to know you and connect with you!

Great trip. Terry was our driver and knows a ton about Greek history and the history of the area & temple specifically. He was very accommodating and made the tour very relaxing. We got lucky and had the temple to ourselves, it’s a very beautiful area and cool to see. As is the lake we stopped at on the way. When we come back to Greece there are other tours I want to do and we’ll be requesting Terry for them.

The drive along the coast to Poseidon’s Temple is a must do. We have dinner at the tavern by the bay looking at the Temple and watching the sunset. It was spectacular. Our driver Manos was the best!
