Ga op een boeiende reis door Cambridge met Helen's zorgvuldig ontworpen self-guided audiotour. De tour begint vlakbij het park, waar je een introductie krijgt in de geschiedenis en het verleden van de stad en haar omgeving.
Emmanuel College heeft een reputatie voor academische uitmuntendheid. Veel geleerden zijn door deze poorten gegaan, waaronder John Harvard, die werd gedoopt in de collegekapel en later een weldoener werd van Harvard University in de VS.
Parker's Piece is een groot openbaar park gelegen in het hart van Cambridge. Het is vernoemd naar Edward Parker, die in 1613 een deel van het land aan de stad schonk.
Een wandeling door het oudste museum van de universiteit neemt je mee op een 4,5 miljard jaar durende reis door de tijd, van de meteorologische bouwstenen van planeten tot de duizenden fossielen van dieren en planten die de evolutie van het leven in de oceanen, op het land en in de lucht illustreren.
De diversiteit aan dierenleven is te zien in de gloednieuwe galerijen van het Universiteitsmuseum voor Zoölogie. De collecties van het Museum voor Archeologie en Antropologie tellen meer dan 800.000 objecten van uitzonderlijke onderzoeks- en historische waarde. Daarnaast zijn er meer dan 100.000 veldfoto's en negatieven in het Fotografisch Archief, en meer dan 30.000 fonds van historische documentaire archieven.
De collectie van het Whipple Museum omvat wetenschappelijke instrumenten, apparaten, modellen, prenten, prenten, foto's, boeken en ander materiaal met betrekking tot de geschiedenis van de wetenschap.
Het Pitt Building werd gebouwd in 1833. Het werd vernoemd naar William Pitt de Jongere, die diende als premier van Groot-Brittannië in de late 18e en vroege 19e eeuw.

De Mathematical Bridge is een beroemde houten loopbrug over de rivier de Cam. Het verbindt twee delen van Queen's College.
Corpus Christi College, vaak kortweg Corpus genoemd, werd in 1352 gesticht door het Gilde van Corpus Christi en het Gilde van de Heilige Maagd Maria.
Bene’t Street is een oude straat in de stad. Het is niet gebruikelijk op het toeristische pad, maar voor mij is het een van de meer interessante delen van de stad. De straat is vernoemd naar St Bene't's Church.
King's College Chapel is een van de meest iconische en herkenbare bezienswaardigheden in Cambridge. De site was oorspronkelijk de uiterwaard van de rivier de Cam, en later middeleeuwse gebouwen.
De kerk van St Mary de Grote, vaak simpelweg "St Mary's" genoemd, dateert uit de 12e eeuw, hoewel het huidige gebouw meestal dateert uit de late 15e en vroege 16e eeuw.
Het Market Square ligt in het hart van het stadscentrum van Cambridge, naast de historische Guildhall. Het plein is de thuisbasis van een van de oudste en grootste openluchtmarkten van het land.
Trinity College werd gesticht in 1546 door koning Hendrik de VIII en is het grootste college in Cambridge naar landoppervlakte en studentenpopulatie.
De Ronde Kerk, officieel bekend als de Kerk van het Heilig Graf werd in 1130 gesticht door kruisvaarders die waren teruggekeerd uit het Heilige Land.
Het Senaatshuis is een voorbeeld van neoklassieke architectuur. Het werd ontworpen door architect James Gibbs en voltooid in 1730.
Op dit punt ligt het oppervlak van de River Cam-uiterwaard slechts 4 meter boven zeeniveau en de rivierbedding slechts ongeveer 2 meter boven zeeniveau. De kustlijn zelf ligt bijna 80 kilometer verderop bij King's Lynn.
Het is een relatief nieuw gebouw, daterend uit het begin van de 20e eeuw, maar er zijn een aantal mooie kenmerken in de interne architectuur.

I thought this walk was very good value. I was looking to book on a 60-90 minute in person guided walk, but the times didn’t quite work out, so I thought I’d give this one a go. I thought it was excellent. Unlike a guided walk with an individual guide, I could take my time when particular things interested me, and there wasn’t the issue of not being able to hear the guide, as sometimes happens with large groups. The thing I really liked which I hadn’t appreciated when I purchased it, was that I could do the walk over several days. It is quite long, and it would probably have taken me three hours to do it all in one go, so I actually did it over three days in short spells of time, which worked really well for me. The narrations were informative, and I definitely discovered things that there’s no way I would’ve found wandering around Cambridge by myself.
What a thoughtful review, Cameron — thank you! You've put your finger on the things we love most about self-guided: no straining to hear a guide in a crowd, time to linger wherever something catches you, and the freedom to spread a longer walk across several days (Cambridge in three short spells sounds perfect). The download was informative but a little lacking. Was hoping for a bit more info on each site and maybe add a few more sites. Also was frustrating that (within the app) if you try to plan your route to the next site it will stop and reset the audio description of the current site.

This was a great audio tour, which did over a weekend stay in Cambridge. The route was great - covering the main sites, plus a few others wer might not have seen otherwise. The interesting information at each site covered the main points, and some of the backstory. We enjoyed going at our own pace, and being able to stop or detour as wanted. We were glad we picked up this tour - it was good value for money as well.

We did the Cambridge Walking Tour Guide and if you're reading the reviews to decide if you should download it, just do it. It was brilliant. Although we had the option to use the audio version, we actually used the text one. We could take our time, the app pings you when to stop and read, the information is really interesting and nicely written, it's all nicely paced. And for that price, we considered it excellent value. We've done a couple of these tours now, so when we go away I always check to see if one is available! This tour, like the others, is so easy to follow. We can do these at our own pace, and there are useful stop off points for nice places for a snack. It was so well thought through, and flowed perfectly. I would honestly recommend this tour to anyone - I feel like I saw all the sights and learnt so much more than without the expertise of this tour.
