De kloof dankt zijn naam aan zijn hoefijzervorm, gedefinieerd door twee kades die uitmonden in de Kneehill Creek, een zijrivier van de Red Deer River. De twee armen van de kloof zijn elk ongeveer 5 km lang en strekken zich uit van Highway 9 tot Kneehill Creek, bij twee voormalige mijngemeenschappen van Dunphy en Gatine. Op zijn beurt geeft het de naam aan de Horseshoe Canyon Formation.
Welkom bij Drumheller!
Een hoodoo is een hoge dunne rotsspits gemaakt van zandsteen met een harde en dichte rots erop, als een hoed. Of zoals het bord bij het park ze beschrijft: “Geërodeerde pilaren van zachte zandsteenrots met daarop een veerkrachtige kap.” De hoodoos zijn in de loop van honderden jaren gevormd door erosie door bevriezing, vorst, smelten en wind. Na verloop van tijd erodeert de zandsteen tot lange schoorsteenachtige formaties die blijven staan omdat de harde rots "hoed" ervoor zorgt dat deze niet volledig wegerodert. De harde rots op de bovenkant van de hoodoos beschermt de zachte laag zandsteen eronder tegen de elementen die de vreemde vorm creëren. Maar als ze eenmaal het stadium hebben bereikt dat ze de schattige sprookjesachtige schoorstenen zijn, gaan ze niet lang mee! Er wordt gezegd dat ze elke 100 jaar 2-4 voet verliezen.
De Atlas Coal Mine National Historic Site is een inactieve kolenmijn in Alberta, Canada die actief was van 1936 tot 1979. Het wordt beschouwd als de meest complete historische kolenmijn van Canada en is de thuisbasis van de laatste nog bestaande houten kolenmijn van het land, en de grootste nog steeds in Noord-Amerika staan. Het werd in 1989 aangewezen als Alberta Provincial Historic Resource en in 2002 tot National Historic Site of Canada.
De "World's Largest Dinosaur" is de naam van een toeristische attractie langs de weg in de vorm van een model Tyrannosaurus rex
Oorspronkelijk gebouwd in 1968, dient deze beroemde kleine kerk als een plaats van aanbidding en meditatie.
Het is moeilijk te geloven dat we zoiets natuurlijks en adembenemends hebben in de middle of nowhere in Alberta! De uitzichten zijn geweldig en je blijft achter met een gevoel van rust dat de moderne samenleving niet...
Het Royal Tyrrell Museum, gerangschikt als een van de beste paleontologiemusea ter wereld, opende in september 1985 haar deuren. Cijfers voor 2018 laten zien dat het Royal Tyrrell Museum meer dan 450.000 bezoekers verwelkomde.

Manny, our driver was amazing! He was friendly and accomodating, and I felt safe as a passenger. He kept the cabin of the clean van cool as it was warm outside. Royal Tyrell Museum was absolutely astonishing- exceeding my high expectations. We stayed in Calgary for a week without renting a car, so arranging a couple private day trips was necessary. We decided to splurge on a private tour...and ABest is a good firm to go with. Our driver, Ali was very chatty, and had a lot of great tips and stories. Only snafu was a miscommunication about stopping at an old ghost town that we had no interest in and have visited similar in our western US trips.

I love dinosaurs so I have always wanted to visit the Royal Tyrell Museum in Drumheller! I happened to be in Calgary on my way home from a big trip so I decided to see if it was reasonable to fit in a visit to Drumheller while I was there. Thanks to Abest Transport & Tour, it was! Our driver was very friendly and knowledgeable about the area, sorry I didn't have better cold-weather clothing to get out and explore more! My main goal was to the see the Royal Tyrell and it was excellent. There are so many cool specimens there, including a surprising number of intact and mostly intact ones. Those are so rare to find but Alberta is one of the best places for it. If you also love dinosaurs the Royal Tyrell in Drumheller is a must-see.

Amman was very pleasant and he was great when my son thought he lost his wallet, which ended up In between the seats in van, then my car keys were also in my son pocket which fell with wallet but we didn’t realize til after Amman dropped us off at hotel. I called Amman and he went back checked that that evening, he didn’t find, but called the next morning and asked if he could double check and he did find the keys!!!

We visited the horseshoe canyon, hoodoos, Tyrell Museum and many more places all within a day; this was great for us, especially since we had a short stay in Alberta and wanted to see Drumheller and the Badlands. Our guide for the day was amazing! This was by far one of the highlights of our trip. Jef was friendly, knowledgeable and just overall amazing. The tour was catered to our interests which was fantastic for a group of Girl Guides from Ontario! While we there were too many fake dinosaurs (inside joke with Jef) we enjoyed every minute of the trip. We were very grateful he took a detour at our request to hit up McDonalds for some cold beverages and some ice cream on a hot day. We will recommend ABest Transport & Tour Services to everyone.
