Egyptisch eten is voor de meesten een mysterie. Vrees niet. Tijdens onze dagelijkse streetfood-ervaring slinger je door de achterstraatjes van de oude stad, een gebied dat zelden door toeristen wordt gezien - duik je in kleine eetgelegenheden die de lokale bevolking al generaties lang bedienen. Er zijn meer dan 15 smaken van rokerige kebabs tot fateer gebak, ingemaakte groenten tot fava bonen falafels - op lokale plekken die je gewoon nooit alleen zou vinden.

Kom voor de piramides, blijf voor het eten. De meesten zijn zich er niet van bewust dat Egyptisch eten een van de meest interessante en genuanceerde in de regio is. Vergeet de toeristische bazaar van Khan-el-Khalili, waar hoge verkoopdruk de naam van het spel is. Tijdens onze dagelijkse streetfoodtour met kleine groepen in Caïro word je door de achterstraatjes van het oude Caïro geleid en duik je in bescheiden eetgelegenheden die al generaties lang de lokale bevolking bedienen. Kom hongerig, want er zijn genoeg dingen te proberen langs de weg. Verwacht rokerige houtskool-gegrilde kofta's, ingemaakte groenten uit een twee-eeuwse fabriek, feteer gebak en pikante gekruide kushari. Er zijn fava bonenfalafels (heel anders dan hun Midden-Oosterse tegenhangers) en pittige aubergines, mollige knapperige gebakken garnalen en versgebakken platte broden. Er zijn koffiebranders en langzaam gegaard lamsvlees onder veel meer. Dit is echter meer dan alleen een food tour. Het is een culturele les, het is een reis door de achterstraatjes van het oude Caïro, plekken die je nooit alleen zou vinden.

Amazing food tour in old Cairo. Our guide Nada was the best- super knowledgeable, friendly and passionate about food. We had 12 delicious food and drink tastings in total and loved them all. It was a great way to see the real Cairo away from the tourists, whilst enjoying amazing traditional food.
I had a fantastic food tour in Cairo with Nada as our guide. She was incredibly friendly, polite, and clearly passionate about her work, with great knowledge of the local food and culture. Thanks to her strong connections with locals, we were taken to authentic spots I would never have discovered on my own. Every dish we tried was delicious, especially the lamb kebabs, and one of my favorite moments was sitting on the street with locals, enjoying tea and soaking up the atmosphere. Overall, it was an amazing experience exploring Cairo through its food, and I’d highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting the city.
A truly wonderful experience and insight into local culture and food with stops in places you wouldn't think of trying The guide was knowledgeable about the food and architecture and nothing to much trouble Just make sure you have an appetite. Enjoy
Had an amazing experience with Nada who showed us around the streets of old Cairo and trying all the Egyptian delicacies. Was very cool to see the real Cairo, people watching and explore places I would have never been able to visit without her knowledge. Tried too many great foods to name, koshary, kofte, juices, teas, coffees, etc. Can highly recommend on your next trip!
So good! The food was great, and we went to places you would never go as a tourist. Sama is so amazing - we learned so much about Cairo and Egypt in general. A wonderful evening with a wonderful person!

We had the pleasure of joining Sama for the Cairo Night Food Tour. The tour was great with a great mix of sit down dishes as well as small bites and drinks on the way. We only visited small local businesses that we would never have found ourselves. If you are into food and adventure - just do it!

My husband and I really enjoyed our food tour with Nada. She took us to a vibrant area that was full of life and locals and we got to see a side of Cairo we would never have experienced on our own. The tastings were great - tasty and authentically quotidian (not fancy, not dressed up for tourists) and all enjoyed in local hole-in-the-wall places amid the hustle and bustle of regular folks living their lives and running errands before Ramadan. Highlight was sitting out in the street on rickety chairs enjoying thick Egyptian coffee with grilled kofta and lamb. Nada was great at providing historical and cultural context during the tour and kept a good pace. She was especially invaluable in getting us a ride back to our hotel. We would highly recommend this tour. Best roving Egyptian dinner ever!!
