Deze woonwijk wordt uniek gekenmerkt door de cultuur van de joodse gemeenschap (de grootste joodse gemeenschap van ongeveer 80 000 mensen woont in Boedapest, in Oost-Centraal Europa) die zich hier eeuwen geleden vestigden. De op twee na grootste synagoge ter wereld (de tweede grootste in Europa), het Joods Museum en de archieven met een rijke collectie en de belangrijkste joodse religieuze en culturele instellingen zijn hier gevestigd. Het kwartier staat sinds 2002 op de werelderfgoedlijst van UNESCO. Laten we samen de geschiedenis, kostuums, tradities en festivals ontdekken! De eerste stop van onze Joodse erfgoedtour is 's werelds op een na grootste synagoge, bekend als Dohány Street Synagogue. Tentoonstellingen, gedenktekens en nog veel meer wachten op ons om te verkennen, zoals het Holocaust Memorial, de Cemetery of Heroes, de Tree of Life met Wallenberg Memorial Park.
We bezoeken het Joods Museum, dat een unieke collectie Joodse artefacten bevat (bijvoorbeeld 's werelds oudste Torah-kruisbloem) met een geweldig verhaal.
Fascinerende geschiedenis met lokale kunst; beroemde ruïnebars; eclectische boetieks; avant-garde galerieën en geweldige eetgelegenheden - De Joodse wijk (werelderfgoed) werd een van de meest opwindende en populaire plekken van Boedapest. Tijdens onze wandeltocht verkennen we de hoogtepunten van deze levendige wijk en praten we natuurlijk over de lange geschiedenis van de Hongaarse Joodse gemeenschap.
We ontdekken de kleine orthodoxe gemeenschap met hun dagelijkse levensgewoonten en gebruiken door een bezoek te brengen aan de kleine, vredige orthodoxe synagoge.
De laatste synagoge in de Joodse Driehoek is de Rumbach Street Synagoge met interessante verhalen. Let op: wordt momenteel verbouwd.
Een van de interessante bezienswaardigheden in de hoofdstad is het Shoes on the Danube Memorial. We bezoeken om meer te weten te komen over het verhaal achter dit opmerkelijke monument.

We had a wonderful tour with George. He was informative and fun to be with. Highly recommend Geroge and this tour.
Our tour guide, György was fabulous. He met us at the lobby of our hotel and provided us with an informative walking tour of the surrounding area on the way to the Jewish quarter of Budapest. He was incredibly knowledgeable of Budapest and the Jewish history. We thoroughly appreciated all he had to offer in seeing the important sites in the area, including but not limited to the synagogues, museum, memorials and current cultural flair of the local area. In addition to the walking, he took us on the Metro to the river bank to see the Parliament building and the important, solemn Shoes on the Danube memorial. He provided us with so much important information of this part of Budapest’s history, and was polite and professional too. I would highly recommend to anyone visiting Budapest.

George was an amazing and very knowledgeable guide. Everything was perfect from meeting me at the hotel to drop off. Very emotional day but light moments with chimney cake and small talk. As I was solo, George did the usual tour but offered options and insights throughout the day to be sure I saw everything I should or wanted to. This tour is a must for anyone who wants a history of the Jewish story in Budapest

<p>Rashad is one of the most knowledgeable historians on Jewish events I have ever heard. He gave us an overview of world history as it related to Jewish people as well as in depth descriptions of the ghettos where thousands died from exposure, starvation, and Nazi bullets. The most striking portion of the tour was the depiction of the men,women and children who were shot and thrown into the Danube illustrated by empty shoes at the river side. The tour was well worth more than its cost.</p>
