Boedapest vertelt twee verschillende verhalen door het eten, en deze tour laat je kiezen welke je wilt proeven. Kies Óbuda, de oudste wijk van de stad, gebouwd over Romeinse ruïnes, waar een werkende slagerij, een restaurant met meer dan 125 jaar geschiedenis en een lokaal café zich ontvouwen over 8 proeverijen van Hongaarse worst, lángo's, fánk en zelfgemaakte strudel. Of kies voor Downtown Budapest, waar grote boulevards en barokke binnenplaatsen 8 proeverijen van stevige gulyássoep, knapperige lángo's, pittige ingemaakte groenten en Hongaars vlees omlijsten, afgewerkt met schoorsteencake en een klein Hongaars biertje. Beide routes worden geleid door een Gids die elke halte behandelt als hun eigen buurt, en beide verbergen een Secret Dish langs de weg, een lokale favoriet die we niet zullen noemen totdat het voor je neus ligt. Een opmerkelijke archeologische site die een venster biedt op de oude Romeinse geschiedenis van Boedapest. Gelegen in de buurt van de ruïnes van het militaire kamp Aquincum, diende dit oude amfitheater ooit als een centrum voor entertainment en sociale bijeenkomsten tijdens het Romeinse Rijk. Gebouwd in de 2e eeuw na Christus, kon het duizenden toeschouwers herbergen die getuige waren van gladiatorenwedstrijden, theatervoorstellingen en andere openbare spektakels.
Een van de meest iconische en historisch belangrijke waterwegen van Europa, kronkelt zich een weg door tien landen van de bron in het Zwarte Woud van Duitsland tot de delta in de Zwarte Zee. De Donau, die door Boedapest, de hoofdstad van Hongarije, stroomt, vormt een centraal punt en verdeelt de stad in twee delen: Boeda en Pest. De rivier is een vitaal onderdeel van de identiteit van de stad en biedt een prachtig panoramisch uitzicht op historische bezienswaardigheden zoals het Hongaarse parlementsgebouw en de Burcht van Boeda,

We absolutely loved this tour, and our guide, Zoltan! Zoltan's inside knowledge and local perspective ensured we experienced Budapest's food scene as locals. We tried dishes we would have been reluctant to try on our own, and visited some off-the-beaten path places that we would have never found on our own. We highly recommend this tour, and Zoltan, to other visitors to Budapest!
This was our first food tour, and I would definitely recommend it to anyone! We tried a variety of different foods at local cafés and restaurants while talking about Hungarian history. Our guide, Zoltan, was extremely friendly and knowledgeable, making the whole experience better. This tour was a great way to experience Budapest’s culture and cuisine!

Zoltan our tour guide was excellent at giving local information and history based on the groups interest. He was also hilarious! Fabulous tour with Zoltan. Very well organised. Great choices for food stops. So much food - come hungry! Zoltan was really knowledgeable and great fun. Get the drinks package - the shots were something else! Came with our 2 teenagers and they loved it too - not too much walking!

This is the best was to start a trip in a foreign country. Get a nice experience of the culinary scene by a local, some history as you walk around and get to meet some friendly people from all over the world along the way. Out guide Kitti was very friendly and followed up the tour with all the things we did, recipes and a picture. Great job!

We toured on a very very hot afternoon and Kitty did a great job managing that while sharing wonderful local places & tastes and seeking out shade, A/C and seats along the way. The tour was much better organized than many we’ve been on. This route is past many of the major tourist sites so you’ll also get some great photos of those. You will sample all the basics along your route and learn a bit more about what you might enjoy going back for. Highlights were the streudel, blueberry soup & sausage.

This was by far one of my favorite food tours I’ve taken! This was LARGELY in part because of our tour guide Zoltan. He was one of a kind, funny, knowledgeable, and took us to delicious spots. Everything was clear & laid out. We had so much good traditional food I wasn’t sure I could eat anymore. And left with lots of laughs & memories. Zoltan is great. Please tip your guides. He definitely deserves it! Highly recommend this tour.
