Ontdek het mooiste gebouw in Boekarest
Bekijk het standbeeld van de eerste koning van Roemenië, Carol I, het voormalige Koninklijk Paleis en de indrukwekkende Universiteitsbibliotheek en ontdek alles over het ongelooflijke verhaal van de monarchie in dit land.
Op het imposante Plein van de Revolutie begrijpt u de harde communisme onderdrukking en hoeveel controle het totalitaire regime uitoefende op het leven van de lokale bevolking. Verhalen over ongelooflijke evolutie en prestaties, maar ook over honger en voedselrantsoenen worden verteld, bekroond met beelden uit die tijd, voor een dramatischer effect. Hier hoort u ook het verhaal van de bloedige revolutie in december 1989 en de uiteindelijke ondergang van de Dictator Nicolae Ceaușescu, getuige van de geboorte van het democratische Roemenië.
Daarna wandelen we over de laan waar koningen hun dagelijkse wandelingen maakten - de romantische Calea Victoriei. Schitterende Belle Epoque-gebouwen zoals het CEC Palace, Grand Hôtel du Boulevard of de Universiteitsbibliotheek zijn te bewonderen.
Aan het begin van de tour wandelen we in de oude binnenstad van Boekarest, op de trappen van het meest gruwelijke personage in de geschiedenis - Vlad Dracula en ontdekken we zijn vergeten fort. In de nabijgelegen karavanserai, Manuc's Inn, een indrukwekkende voormalige commerciële nederzetting, leer je hoe Boekarest evolueerde bij de fusie tussen twee verschillende werelden: het Oosten en het Westen. Later nemen we je mee naar een eclectische mix van gebouwen zoals de Nationale Bank van Roemenië, het Stavropoleos-klooster en de Villacrosse Passage en je zult zeker gecharmeerd zijn van de levendige sfeer in deze wijk.

Stefan did a great job of introducing us to Bucharest. Alongside the references to important historical figures and places Stefan also discussed the impact personalities and politics had on the everyday life of ordinary citizens.
