Reisroute

Authentic, fun and delicious slice of life in the North End which will soon disappear. Anthony makes the experience.
Get ready to eat a lot. The Italian sandwich from Monica’s Mercado was my favorite. The red pepper was delicious not over powering.
Great to hear stories of growing up in the area and knowledge of local businesses. Foods sampled were all delicious.
Overall, it was a very good tour. Anthony is a very colorful guy and a lot of fun. The only reason I did not give it five stars was I thought it was a little expensive for the amount of food that you received and you did not get any drinks or wine as part of it. Overall it was very good though.
Is it is exactly what it claims to be. There’s cussing, jokes, etc. which should be no surprise. The guide was great. He knew and loved the neighborhood. Great insight and loads of fun.
Thoroughly enjoyed the tour. Pickup for the tour is Boston's North End Library - the street names don't necessary match between Google Maps and the street signs (this is an FYI to future tour attendees). The tour wasn't as politically incorrect as I expected as the incorrect-ness is just that our guide showed up a little late, curses, smokes, and doesn't fawn over attendees. There were 6 stops at long-standing North End restaurants with stories/history about the neighborhood. I was travelling solo and had no trouble following our guide when he started transitioning from one stop to another. Another FYI, our guide is not overly loud and the streets are busy - find ways to stand close in order to hear OR make peace with not hearing everything. Not a criticism - something to be aware of if managing your expectations helps you find peace. We met at the library (be sure not to block the accessible ramp) and walked over to a playground, where we sat, had some neighborhood history, and some pizza from Ernesto's. It was about 45 minutes from tour beginning to when we had our first bit of food >> when they say come hungry, they mean it. There's also a stop midway where we sit in a restaurant for about 25 minutes.
There were 35+ people on this tour. Anthony the tour guide was a bit overwhelmed with the size of the group. You only stop and sit at 2 proper restaurants. The first is sit in a park for 30 minutes as he goes over the history of the North End then he brings a few pizzas and you eat a slice standing. After which you go to an alley stand around and and eat part of an Italian sub. Definitely more than enough food. The group size needs to be limited. A few FUs doesn't really make you politically incorrect? Having been on quite a few food tours, this one was average.
My husband and I had a great time learning about Boston’s North End and enjoying a good amount of local Italian food. Monica’s Italian sub sandwich was easily our favorite taste. Antonio is a blast, but if you’re easily offended by F-bombs, then consider a different tour. Loved his personal stories he shared! Highly recommend!
Come hungry, lots of food to be had! Anthony was funny and his stories were great, a local legend!
Anthony was fun and informative. He was authentically politically incorrect. Great food, tons to eat.
