Onze historische tour begint bij een van Boston's meest ondergewaardeerde wonderen van architectuur: South Station. We nemen even de tijd om de enorme adelaar en klok te analyseren die de gevel domineren. Opmerking : De tour is meer dan 1,5 mijl lang, met meer dan 18 audio verhalen, en duurt ongeveer 1 - 2 uur te voltooien. Nieuw, Levenslang toegang, geen vervaldatum. Terwijl we langs Boston's Harborwalk lopen, kijken we uit over het water om een glimp op te vangen van een echte explosie uit het verleden: een koloniaal schip vol met theekratten! We zullen meer te weten komen over de gebeurtenissen van Boston's Tea Party, maar we zullen ook dieper duiken: wat veroorzaakte deze rel echt? Waarom waren de belastingen zo hoog? Wat had een verre internationale oorlog te maken met de prijs van thee in Boston?
Aan de overkant van de straat vinden we een prachtig voorbeeld van moderne architectuur bij de Federal Reserve. Als we voorbij lopen, leren we de intrigerende verhalen achter de saaie naam.
Bij Russia Wharf staan we officieel aan het begin van onze Harborwalk-reis en onze reis naar het verleden. We zullen leren over de bloeiende internationale handel tijdens het koloniale tijdperk ... de stichting die later zou leiden tot de epische Boston Tea Party.
De Harbour Towers in brutalistische stijl zijn niet te missen. Brutalisme was een ware rage in de jaren zeventig. Tegenwoordig polariseert de stijl waarnemers. Sommige mensen zien een soort vreemde schoonheid in de schaarse, overheersende structuren. Anderen zien gewoon lelijke gebouwen! Tegenwoordig kun je de stijl altijd overal herkennen aan zijn grimmige, vestingachtige uiterlijk. We leren over de torens, de strijd van Boston tussen betaalbaar en luxe leven, en een van de meest ambitieuze projecten van de stad: het opruimen van deze haven.
Onze reis brengt ons naar Rowe's Wharf - genoemd naar een van de theesmokkelaars die de "Tea Party" aanmoedigde! We zullen meer te weten komen over John Rowe en zijn avonturen met de wet terwijl we er doorheen lopen.
Het Harbour Hotel is een prachtig staaltje architectuur, waarin moderne en koloniale stijlen naadloos in elkaar overlopen. De koperen koepel van 80 voet bevat een glazen koepel. Als je naar het midden van de boog loopt en recht omhoog kijkt, zie je helemaal door de bovenkant van de koepel naar de glazen koepel erboven.
Onze tour langs de schilderachtige Harborwalk eindigt op een van de meest historische plekken van Boston: Long Wharf. Van koloniale veldslagen tegen de Britten tot moderne menigten toeristen, deze Wharf blijft een hotspot in Boston. Geniet van het uitzicht en de geschiedenis terwijl we ons verhaal afsluiten bij deze schilderachtige stop.
We naderen nu een populaire stop in Boston en langs de Harborwalk: het Aquarium! Deze enorme attractie is gedeeltelijk boven de haven gebouwd, waardoor het aquarium toegang heeft tot de natuurlijke omgeving van de haven van Boston.
De Harborwalk is 70 kilometer lang, maar we concentreren ons op het historische Waterfront District van South Station tot Long Wharf. Dat is slechts ongeveer 1 mijl. We behandelen alles, van de Boston Tea Party tot de nieuwste wolkenkrabbers langs de kust.

Park at Harbor Garage for this experience, it starts around the N.E. Aquarium. The walk is like a sidewalk thing around the buildings, right against the water and the buildings so it is right against, it curves with the landscape. VERY nice experience. When you get to one of the spots with the app, it automatically tells you about the area which you arrived. Super interesting and a great job/informative.

A detailed guide with just enough of an experience of the Harbor Walk. The stop near the Tea Party Museum was great. You can go in the gift shop without buying a ticket to the museum.

Easy to load and use the app. GPS assures that tour aligns with the user’s location. Narration was interesting and educational. Using the app was far better than walking aimlessly through the city. I’ll be sure to look up additional tours when I’m touring other cities. Highly recommend!

I really enjoyed this GPS audio tour. Basically, you will along a Google Maps-like app to tour around the Seaport area of Boston. As you walk to the different stops, the app uses GPS to play the information about what you are seeing. The narrator was very engaging and funny. The tour was a good length and was very interesting. The sites were great and it was a beautiful and fun afternoon!
