As an afropuertorican woman learning about the African American experience it was very impressionable. My take away we all must engage in these stories when you know better you do better. Grounds are stunning g and the history is very eye opening. My favorite was engaging with Ms Glander and learning about the Gullah Geechee community.
Excellent walkable half day excursion not far from downtown small market available for purchases and beverages
What a fascinating and sobering experience. About 30 minutes from downtown Charleston - absolutely worth the trip. Our guide (whose name is escaping me!) was wonderful - very easygoing and knowledgeable having only lived in Charleston for 3 years. The plantation is gorgeous - very well cared for - but not minimizing the dark side of the history that took place here. The slave cabins were fascinating; loved the house tour and the evolution of the building. Farm and garden tour was very informative. Then I just sat under a magnolia tree and took it all in. Absolutely worth the visit!
Very informative experience. Plan to stay for a while because there is so much to see. My favorite was the Gullah Experience.
We enjoyed our time visiting Boone Hall Plantation, even though a brief thunderstorm interrupted one of the shows we saw at this site.
Lexie was a great tour guide to Boon Hall. The grounds were amazing and the staff took pride in talking about all aspects of the homes history. The Gulla Girl was moving and she is amazing.
It is a beautiful setting with important and accurate history lessons told. The Gullah-gichi presentation is especially worth attending.
The plantation house was built well after slavery. The Gullah demonstration was great. I would imagine other tours might be better
The grounds and gardens are very nice. The "mansion" tour is a bust, consisting of viewing the library, dining room, and a hall way/office. The rest of the house is off limits. The staff was friendly and the Butterfly Cafe has great butter pecan ice cream. Overall, an interesting place to visit.
The tours of the house and grounds of Boone Hall were interesting. The Gullah presentation was excellent. We had a group of six and we all thought it was really tacky for the guides asked for tips after each tour. Haven’t experienced that at any other historical house tour.
