Begin uw dag met de Sumidero Canyon, waar u kunt genieten van een motorboottocht door het midden van deze spectaculaire kloof. De weg daalt meer dan 1500 meter en bereikt de Grijalva-rivier waar de Sumidero Canyon kliffen heeft van 100 tot 1000 meter hoog. Het is heel vaak mogelijk om lokale dieren in het wild te zien, zoals krokodillen, slingerapen en witte en grijze reigers. Loop rond in de eerste Spaanse nederzetting van Chiapa de Corzo, die zich ook onderscheidt door zijn voortreffelijke gastronomie en zijn traditionele drankje genaamd "Pozol". Bezoek het dorp Zinacantan, je krijgt de kans om alles te leren over het werk van de vrouwen van Zinacantán, die uniek mooi textiel weven met een speciaal weefgetouw aan hun riem. De weg naar het dorp San Lorenzo Zinancantan is ongeveer 11 km. lang. Zinancantán-mensen zijn ook Tzotzil-Maya's en de overheersende kleding is in zeer onderscheidende kostuums van roze en paars. Bewonder met eigen ogen het moeizame handgemaakte werk van de weefvrouwen, die met een weefgetouw aan hun middel prachtige textielstukken maken zoals 'Huipiles', tafelkleden, spreien en kussenhoezen
San Juan Chamula, (10 km van San Cristobal de las Casas) is een stad vol geschiedenis, maar biedt toch ook een kijkje in de Maya's van vandaag. Dit is de grootste Maya-gemeente in Chiapas met een bevolking van meer dan 40.000 Tzotzil-sprekers, een van de de 31 Mayatalen. Deze regio staat bekend om zijn agrarische en ceremoniële levensstijl, die een mengeling is van katholieke en Maya-overtuigingen. De katholieke kerk van St. Johannes de Doper maakt feitelijk geen deel uit van een bisdom, omdat de inwoners de vrijheid wensen om verschillende soorten rituelen uit te voeren.

It may be that there is not enough time to do the tour to both sites on the same day, but if that is the case, they move the visit to the towns to another day without any problems. Constant contact with the operator. Recommended

My guide Homero and driver Edilberto were both amazing! It was a long day to take me around. Even though I don’t understand Spanish very well and the only one on the trip, they both spared no effort in looking after me. I had a wonderful day and learned many things from Homero who is very knowledgeable and always made sure I was comfortable and safe. I love that he encourages me to take my time and not rush. This experience has been great. The boat ride was impressive. We saw Aranga’s, Crocodiles, and more. Homer was an excellent driver and guide. He knew everything about the history of the country and of the Mayan/Mexican culture. The church is San Juan Chamula is a must-see. No pictures are allowed inside the church.

We were lucky and were alone with the tour guide as a family of 4 and had a private tour! Homero, our tour guide, provided us with a lot of information on this day trip and let us taste local drinks like Pozol, Pox and Atosh at the markets. We also enjoyed being able to taste Talames! We even learned 3 toasts on Zotzil when we were put in traditional clothes in Zinacantán. Thank you Homero for introducing us to the culture! We were able to allocate time freely. The boat trip was also gigantic, you felt like you were in Jurassic Park with the river crocodiles on the shore...

This trip had pros and cons. Pro: great guides, friendly and helpful Con: so dusty that I felt unsafe. The road was very hard to see and at times we had to come to a complete stop until the dust cleared. We also had to buy goggles or glasses and bandanas, they do not rent goggles. I know that the road is dry because of the weather, but I would not recommend this trip.

We loved this experience! PEDRO are guide was intuitive and geared the tour into what we liked. He was spiritual and amazing!!! The cenote was gorgeous and refreshing swim! The atvs were in great shape! Hung out with a crocodile, zipline and a lot more!
