Binnen- en dagtour in Gallipoli, binnen en buiten
Beschrijving
Gallipoli en het binnenland herbergen nog steeds sporen van de rijkdom die de handel in lampolie eeuwenlang genereerde. De eerste stop is bij Alezio voor een proeverij in een kaasboerderij, daarna gaan we verder naar Tuglie voor het geweldige Radiomuseum (alle items, inclusief telegraaf, werken nog steeds!) of voor het Museum van het plattelandsleven. Terug richting de kust, in het natuurreservaat Porto Selvaggio, nuttigen we een picknicklunch (niet inbegrepen) in de schaduw van het dennenbos en, voor degenen die daar zin in hebben, een verfrissende duik in het koele bronwater. Op de terugweg naar Gallipoli stoppen we in Santa Caterina om een van de beste ijsjes uit de regio te proeven (ze zijn gespecialiseerd in “zoute pistacchios”, “amandel en vijgen” en “chocoladeroom”). Tegen zonsondergang komen we aan in Gallipoli.

We beginnen hier en eindigen hier. Gallipoli is een vissersstadje, dat zijn glorie had te danken aan de export van olijfolie die in de middeleeuwen niet werd verkocht voor voedseldoeleinden, maar om een andere reden en we laten je ontdekken welke!
We stoppen in dit kleine dorp om de ondergrondse olijfmolen uit de 17e eeuw te bezoeken.
Langs secundaire wegen, tussen olijfbomen en lokale constructies van droge stenen (trulli en pajare), bereiken we Galatone met zijn imposante Normandische kasteel, de kerk van het kruisbeeld - meesterwerk van de barokstijl van Leccese - en het adellijke paleis.
Porto Selvaggio, is een goed bewaard gebleven natuurpark met helder water waar het onmogelijk is om er niet in te springen! Er zijn bronnen van bronwater die zich vermengen met het zeewater. We stoppen voor een duik en een lunchpauze.

Excellent six days' cycling from Lecce with a circular inland and along coast to Gallipoli. GPS navigation very good and lots of opportunities to experience the culture of Puglia as well as take a rest over lunch or enjoy a swim. We are both over seventy ,and though challenging at times , with reasonable level of fitness, we managed the average of 40 miles approx cycling per day . Accommodation throughout was excellent, attentive hosts on hand, plus an excellent briefing before we set out. Salento Bici Tours provided excellent bikes, advice and support throughout our trip.

Unforgettable day with a group of friends for my bachelor party. We wanted to do some activities rather than the usual relaxation by the sea and couldn't have a better idea. The tour is very easy, all flat and most of the time spread over almost deserted roads. The bikes were brand new and kept very well, comfortable even the bags available to put inside any object. The guide Giulia is fantastic, very nice, connoisseur of the place and attentive manager of the group. The stop at the DonnAnna estate will remain in my heart forever, I expected something "commercial" for the average tourist instead I had to change my mind and we all enjoyed an incredible Processing from morning until evening
