24 augustus 79 AD begon net als elke andere dag ... een plotselinge ramp trof een levendige stad in de buurt van een van de belangrijkste handelshavens van het Romeinse Rijk. Toen de grootste vulkaan op het Italiaanse schiereiland uitbarstte, werd de hele stad 's nachts uitgeroeid onder de vulkanische as begraven. De naam van de stad was Pompeii. Tegen het einde van 25 augustus was het landschap rond de Vesuvius voor altijd veranderd en was Pompeii volledig begraven. Binnen een paar jaar kon niemand meer onthouden waar de stad ooit had gestaan. Toen de opgraving bijna 1700 jaar later begon, verbaasde wat er aan het licht kwam de wereld. Onder de vulkaanas was de stad prachtig bewaard gebleven. Een tijdcapsule die eeuwen later onthulde hoe het leven in de stad was geweest in de tijd van het Romeinse Rijk. Niet alleen de gebouwen in de stad waren perfect bewaard gebleven, vulkanische as verzegelde ook hun lichamen en hun gedachten krabden vaak voor de plotselinge tragedie in de pleistermuren. Als je kijkt naar de talrijke en soms verborgen details van Pompeii, zul je meer te weten komen over de bewoners, hun levens en hun wensen die nooit uitkwamen ... What can I say… a truly magical and unforgettable moment. ❤️ Visiting Pompeii is already an extraordinary experience, but discovering it with Ada completely transforms the visit. Her explanations are fascinating, precise, and lively. She knows how to tell the story, make us understand what we have before our eyes, and above all, take us back in time. But beyond her exceptional knowledge, we particularly appreciated her kindness, her thoughtfulness, her simplicity, and her immense pleasure in sharing her profession. Ada is a wonderful person, and you feel it immediately. Thanks to her, we discovered Pompeii in a way we rarely could have on our own. Great visit! Ada is an incredible guide, she shares anecdotes, takes you through less crowded places, all with a small group (there were only 7 of us). In short, I recommend it 100%!

We had a great family guided tour with Ada our Francophone guide. This one makes the visit lively and knows how to adapt to the whole family of the child through the teenager (e) to the parent.
