Begin uw ochtend met de heerlijke smaak van traditionele Griekse taarten. Ontmoet elkaar op het Syntagma-plein, waar je kennismaakt met een verscheidenheid aan taarten, waaronder de geliefde spanakopita, gevuld met spinazie en fetakaas. Dit is een perfect begin van uw dag en geeft u een voorproefje van de lokale ontbijtproducten.
Op slechts een korte loopafstand van de taartwinkel bezoeken we een lokale delicatessenwinkel die bekend staat om zijn brede selectie Griekse kazen en romige Griekse yoghurt. Hier leer je over het kaasbereidingsproces in Griekenland en proef je verschillende soorten feta, samen met andere regionale kazen, vergezeld van rijke, authentieke Griekse yoghurt.
Terwijl we op weg zijn naar het levendige Monastiraki-gebied, bereidt u uw smaakpapillen voor op een assortiment pastourma en traditionele Griekse vleeswaren. Je ervaart de robuuste smaken en kruiden die dit vlees tot een belangrijk onderdeel van de Griekse keuken maken.
Geen enkele Griekse foodtour zou compleet zijn zonder olijven. We stoppen bij een speciaalzaak waar je verschillende soorten Griekse olijven proeft, elk met zijn unieke smaakprofiel, variërend van de beroemde Kalamata tot de minder bekende maar even heerlijke lokale variëteiten.
Vervolgens genieten we van de zoete kant van Griekenland met een bezoek aan een plaatselijk eetcafé voor wat loukoumades. Deze met honing doordrenkte donuts zijn een Griekse favoriet en vormen een heerlijk contrast met de hartige smaken van de ochtend.
Voordat we naar je volgende eetstop gaan, duiken we in de bruisende sfeer van de Centrale Markt van Athene. Hier bent u getuige van de levendige handel in verse producten, vlees en vis en krijgt u een idee van het dagelijkse leven van Atheense shoppers en handelaars.
Voor de lunch genieten we van zelfgemaakte Griekse recepten in een traditioneel eetcafé. Geniet van een selectie gerechten bereid met verse, lokale ingrediënten, waardoor u de echte Griekse keuken kunt proeven.
Om onze tour af te sluiten, wandelen we naar de Boheemse wijk Psiri. Hier ontspannen we in een gezellig café en genieten we van typisch Griekse desserts die perfect bij de beroemde Griekse koffie passen. We did this tour on our first day in Greece and what an amazing experience it was! Our guide Sapfo was awesome! She’s friendly, kind as ver knowledgeable. She took us to places we may have missed on our own but were still able to find afterwards. We were stuffed by the middle of the tour but we really felt like we experienced Greek food. We sampled so many things that we were able to eat throughout our vacation. Thank you Sapfo! I’m so glad you were our guide. I’ll miss Greece but I plan to take as many foods with me as I can! This experience exceeded our expectations!

I booked and then they canceled on me I have yet to receive a refund Why would they let me book and then tell me they were full and I was canceled and then continue to send me emails to attend and then ask me to review trip they told me not to attend?!
The group was a good size, less than 10 people. The tour was 4 hours; we walked at a suitable pace, with many stops to hear and taste. I started the tour without breakfast at 10 am, and I was more than full by the end. We tasted pasties, cheese, sausages, ham, had a good lunch, and tasty cakes for dessert. Mini is an excellent host, very knowledgeable and friendly. We got a lot of information about Greek culture, traditions, history and of course about the food. She gave us some good tips on what to do in Athens and nearby. For me, it is very important to have a native host. Mini told us about her family traditions through the generations. I suggest the Greeking.me organised food tour for all Athens visitors.

Really wonderful experience. Eleni was knowledgeable and the food was delicious. We did go to places we never would have found on our own and we loved the extensiveness of this tour. We also learned a lot about Athens and Greece. We appreciated her knowledge and upbeat personality. It was such a pleasant experience. We also appreciated that there was no pressure to buy anything and this was not a commercial tour. The restaurant staff and shop keepers were just friendly and welcoming not trying to sell (we have been on other tours that were hard sells and did not like that). However, if we had wanted to buy something, like honey or olives, we could have --to take home. Great tour, highly recommend.
