Deze wandeling is alleen privé voor jou met eigen vervoer. Je bereikt de top van de vierde hoogste berg van Mexico op 4680 meter boven zeeniveau. Dit is een uitgedoofde vulkaan met twee meren in de krater en deze zijn een van de hoogste waterverbindingen ter wereld. Normaal gesproken duurt de hele wandeling 6 uur (op en neer) en in totaal ongeveer 8 kilometer. De starthoogte van deze wandeling ligt op 4100 meter boven zeeniveau. Je zult genieten van deze zware wandeling en je zult zelfs rotsen en grote rotsen beklimmen. Op de top heb je een prachtig uitzicht op de meren.

We arriveren om 8.00 uur op de laatste parkeerplaats in de berg. Voordat we aan de wandeling beginnen, controleren we onze tassen en bevestigen dat we voldoende water en snacks binnen hebben. De trekkingstokken en helm worden naar je opgestuurd. We beginnen de wandeling op 4100 meter boven zeeniveau en meestal duurt het 3 uur tot de top. Het eerste deel loopt 1 kilometer tot aan de rand van de krater vanwaar je de twee meren kunt zien (4280 meter). Het tweede deel van de wandeling is om af te dalen naar het meer van de maan en de weg weer te vinden tijdens de klim tot aan de eerste reeks pieken, dit betekent dat we nu weer aan de rand van de krater zullen zijn (4400 meter). De wandeling gaat verder op de grens en beklimt in sommige delen zelfs rotsen tot de top op 4680 meter wordt bereikt. De terugreis duurt meestal nog eens 3 uur tot het voertuig weer terug is. We kunnen onze lunch of snacks op elk moment tijdens onze wandeling meenemen.

First off-our driver Pauloco (sp) and guide (she said her name so fast I didn't catch it, but it started with a P--Paulina?) were LOVELY. They were friendly and helpful and kind and engaging as possible. (Also-getting picked up in a car, not a van, was a delightful surprise.) However. We booked and paid for a trip to SUMMIT Nevado de Toluca and we merely walked around the two lakes down in the crater. We didn't summit anything. Didn't even start to summit anything, even though it was pointed out and we asked. We're not sure what happened--miscommunication between Viator and the entity that books the guide? The fact that our driver came along (his first time going to the place in general) and had on normal, non-hiking shoes? We walked up a brief incline before descending into the lake crater area, but we were hoping/planning to go UP the mountain. With the language barrier, we didn't know how to solve this problem in real time or explain anything. I don't know if this was a one off issue, but we were disappointed in not going up the volcano, even if what we did was nice. We are rather experienced hikers looking for a semi-tough experience and instead it was almost literally a walk in the park, so we were ultimately disappointed.

Great place. We loved every bit of it. The altitude get you at the beginning, but you get used to it. Our guide Ruben was awesome, very friendly, knowledgeable, and understanding. The views are stunning

My wife and I recently embarked on a challenging but incredibly rewarding hike to the summit of Nevado de Toluca from Mexico City. This is definitely not a hike for beginners! The high altitude and the terrain, which includes some technical climbing and scrambling sections, demand a good level of fitness and a head for heights. Despite the difficulty, our guides, Ruben and Laila, were exceptional. Their English was excellent, and they looked after us well throughout the long day. We were picked up at 5am and didn't return to our hotel until after 7pm, so be prepared for a long day. The final ascent to the summit was particularly steep and challenging, but the views from the top were absolutely breathtaking. It was a truly unforgettable experience. I highly recommend this trip to anyone with some scrambling experience, good fitness, and a desire for an adventure. We are incredibly grateful to Ruben and Laila for their hard work and dedication.

The tour to the summit of the Nevado de Toluca was really very nice. The pickup went very well and the guide Andrew was very nice.
The landscape is breathtaking. With the proposed hike, you really discover the Nevado de Toluca from all its angles. Our guide Andrew was perfect! Be careful, there is a fairly sporty climbing part but with Andrew's advice, everything went well.
We had a wonderful experience with Andrew. He was kind, knowledgeable and professional. I would defiantly use him again and plan on recommending him to friends and family for future trips. 5 stars all the way!
