Stap aan boord van onze VW combi uit de jaren 70 en ontdek de vele smaken van Baskenland. Tijdens deze tour onthult Clémence, uw epicuristische gids, de vele geheimen van Baskenland, beroemd om zijn culinaire tradities. Ham, kaas, pepers, taarten, likeuren... u ontdekt (...en proeft!) de vele redenen waarom Baskenland een belangrijke rol speelt in het Franse culinaire erfgoed! Tijdens deze smakelijke reis doorkruist u kleine dorpjes die tot de mooiste van Frankrijk behoren! U krijgt ook de kans om een Baskische herdersboerderij te bezoeken en zijn werk, zijn schapen en natuurlijk... zijn kaas te ontdekken!

Reisroute
Vertrek vanuit Biarritz, tegenover de Cité de l'Océan. We zullen het Franse Baskenland doorkruisen aan boord van onze VW Combi, om onze eerste stop te bereiken. Gedurende deze tijd laat uw gids u kennismaken met de cultuur en tradities van het Baskenland.
We maken een eerste stop in het charmante dorpje Sare, gelegen aan de Spaanse grens. U ontdekt onze traditie van Kintoa ham en delicatessenproducten (chorizo, lomo, saucisson en ga zo maar door...), gevolgd door een proeverij.
We sluiten onze tour af met een bezoek aan het mooie dorpje Espelette, beroemd om zijn rode paprika's. Deze trendy smaakmaker, zeer gewaardeerd door Franse chef-koks, hangt op alle gevels van het dorp! Annie, een paprikaboer uit Espelette, verwelkomt ons in haar winkel voor een proeverij van lokale specialiteiten gemaakt met deze specerij. Geniet van de smakelijke sfeer van Espelette met vrije tijd in het dorp, voordat je terugkeert naar Biarritz!
We gaan dan naar Itxassou, om de boerderij van Mirentxu de herder te bezoeken, om haar werk, haar schapen en de beroemde Ossau Iraty-kaas te ontdekken. Proef de smaken van deze lokale kaas…met een vleugje zwarte kersenjam! Dit is de manier waarop wij het hier eten!

An unforgettable experience! We loved this gourmet getaway in the Basque Country. Clémence is a passionate and exceptional guide, who shares her knowledge with enthusiasm and makes you want to discover more and more. Tastings and itineraries are carefully selected, offering an authentic immersion in the heart of the region, between exceptional local products and beautiful landscapes. The tour is simply perfect! Klem is an excellent guide, very knowledgeable and full of love to her country, Basque. With her we almost sank into the very warm atmosphere of Basque Country, meeting people, seeing various animals - pigs, goats, wild basque horses, sheep, testing food and wine, exploring cosy basque villages and enjoying beautiful landscapes! We learnt a lot about Basque history, nature, culture, sports, etc. By the end of the trip we completely fell in love with the places we visited and with the people we met! I definitely recommend this tour to everyone who's interested in Basque Country life and wants to have fun!

This is one of the best tours we’ve ever done. Clemence was fantastic. She had so much knowledge about the area that she shared, and she was particularly helpful and considerate with my 90-year-old mother, who has some physical limitations. I would highly recommend this tour. We got to taste wonderful foods and see so much of the Basque country that we wouldn’t know to look for by ourselves.
