De Basilica di Santa Croce, hoogstaand in Florence, Italië, is niet zomaar een kerk, het is een pantheon. Dit Franciscaanse meesterwerk, bijgenaamd de 'Tempel van de Italiaanse glorie', is de laatste rustplaats voor iconische Italianen als Michelangelo, Galileo en Machiavelli. Loop door de zalen en bewonder de fresco's van Giotto, of sta op het plein waar legendes rusten, allemaal binnen 800 meter van de ontzagwekkende aanwezigheid van de Duomo. Mis deze schat aan kunst en geschiedenis niet tijdens je Florentijnse avontuur.

Stap het Piazza di Santa Croce binnen, waar de legendarische Calcio Storico elk jaar in juni ontploft! Onze reis begint bij de Basiliek, een schatkamer van renaissancekunst. Binnen bewonder je de fresco's van Gaddi in de Cappella Maggiore, die het verhaal van Santa Croce zelf uitbeelden. Bewonder Giotto's meesterlijke scènes uit het leven van St. Franciscus en St. John in de Bardi- en Peruzzi-kapellen. Kijk links van de ingang naar het inspirerende gedenkteken voor toneelschrijver Niccolini, een voorloper van het Vrijheidsbeeld. Terwijl we lopen, leer je over Donatello's juweelachtige kruisbeeld, een meesterwerk uit de Renaissance. De harmonieuze Cappella de' Pazzi van Brunelleschi zal u versteld doen staan van de architectonische perfectie. We zien de monumentale begraafplaats, waar restauratie door overstromingen beschadigde schilderijen weer tot leven heeft gebracht. Als u naar buiten stapt, bewondert u de polychrome marmeren façade. Onze tour eindigt met de klokkentoren, de crypte en alle 16 kapellen, en duurt ongeveer een uur. Bekijk gerust alle hoogtepunten op uw gemak!

- Er is een kledingvoorschrift vereist om gebedshuizen en geselecteerde musea te betreden. Korte broeken of mouwloze tops zijn niet toegestaan. Knieën en schouders MOETEN bedekt zijn voor zowel mannen als vrouwen. Als u zich niet aan deze kledingvoorschriften houdt, loopt u het risico de toegang te weigeren.
- Werkt onder alle weersomstandigheden, kleed je gepast.
- Houd er rekening mee dat er voor de tour minimaal twee gasten nodig zijn.
- Houd er rekening mee dat als u na de starttijd van de tour arriveert, u niet meer kunt deelnemen en geen restitutie krijgt of dat uw tour opnieuw wordt gepland.
- Er is een mogelijkheid tot annulering na bevestiging als er niet genoeg passagiers zijn om aan de vereisten te voldoen. In het geval dat dit gebeurt, wordt u een alternatief of volledige terugbetaling aangeboden.
- Bij weigering van toegang vanwege ongepaste dresscodes wordt de tour niet opnieuw gepland of terugbetaald.
- Als de optie voor wijnproeven is geselecteerd - In geval van intolerantie of allergieën, waarschuw ons dan tijdens het boeken en vóór de tour om ongemak te voorkomen.

For €8 you can visit this Gothic church where its main interest is to house the tombs of several of the main and emblematic Florentine characters (Miguel Angel, Dante, ..), apart from works by the greatest representatives of the Renaissance. Nice cloisters and spectacular altarpiece. Important as in almost all churches that women wear shoulder and leg covers...

The tour was postponed by a day, moving it to the following day. We were only in Florence that one day. We were disappointed. I truly hope we get our money back.

Our tour guide was witty, knowledgeable and a great story teller. Would definitely recommend. Santa Croce is beautiful and full of history. The one hour tour was perfect.
We arrive today at 11am to see the Basilica but we are told that the opening is at 1pm. We had arrived yesterday to see the wonderful Florence and had reserved to see Santa Croce before leaving. Obviously all blown. Scandalous to open at 13.!

The lady who conducted our tour was great and the Santa Croce Basilica is the most impressive church in Florence.
Courteous staff who oversee the decorous clothing of patrons (since it is a church no short shirts and tank tops and shorts not crotch). Under 12 years free. Map with the placement of the graves of the great at the entrance and most prestigious works. Cloister very airy and in short everything to enjoy calmly. I also liked the teenage daughter all say.
