Basiliek van Sint Nicolaas is een belangrijke bedevaartsoord voor zowel rooms-katholieken als orthodoxe christenen en een van de belangrijkste attractie
De kathedraal is de zetel van de aartsbisschop van Bari-Bitonto, gewijd aan Sint Sabinus, een bisschop van Canosa, wiens relieken hier in de 9e eeuw werden gebracht. Hier zult u de ondergrondse Romeinse muren genaamd Succorpo waarderen.
Het plein is altijd het hart geweest van commerciële en administratieve activiteiten in de stad vanwege de aanwezigheid van de stadsmarkt (momenteel niet in dit gebied) en van het palazzo Sedile, het historische referentiepunt van het stadhuis van Bari. Tegenwoordig is het voor de inwoners van Bari een onvervangbaar ontmoetingspunt.
Piazza Ferrarese is altijd een van de toegangspunten geweest tot de oude stad die zich met zijn smalle straatjes, steegjes en kleine openingen uitstrekt van Piazza Ferrarese - Piazza Mercantile tot aan het kasteel Normanno - Svevo. Tijdens de recente restauratie, waarbij niet alleen het plein maar ook de omliggende gebouwen betrokken waren, kwam een kort stuk van de oude Via Appia - Traiana aan het licht, gebouwd door de Romeinen in het begin van de tweede eeuw na Christus.
Het Normandische Swebian-kasteel herbergt de verzameling gipsafgietsels en tijdelijke kunsttentoonstellingen.

I took this rickshaw tour through Bari with my 71-year-old parents, and the three of us squeezed in with Chiara. She was a wonderful guide who drove us safely around the city while explaining its history and culture. We were only in Bari for one day, so this was a great introduction to the city. Our favorite part was seeing the Nonnas making fresh pasta. I would definitely recommend this tour!

From our experience our tour time was changed from 11.30 to 12 by message we duly arrived at that time but did not depart until 12.30. We booked the Foccacia option which we paid extra for. This didn’t happen when we got back to the depot I pointed this out and we were sent with one of the guides to have a gelato instead.

A fabulous 2 hour ride through Bari, seeing places we would have missed travelling on foot. Elanora’s commentary was brilliant and very informative, a great way to learn about the history of the town! To watch the orecchiette being made in the street was amazing, and to visit the different theatres, fish market, castle and churches….. just wow!!!! 😍 (The stop for gelato was a nice surprise too!!) As they say in Bari, “ sciamaninne !”
