Deze foodtour door de Gotische wijk van Barcelona neemt je mee door het oudste deel van de stad, waar Romeinse muren middeleeuwse architectuur ontmoeten en traditionele tapas ruimte delen met moderne Spaanse gerechten. U proeft authentieke gerechten in familiebedrijven, van vermout met Iberische ham tot creatieve interpretaties die de traditie respecteren en tegelijkertijd een eigentijdse touch toevoegen. Uw lokale Gids deelt de verhalen achter elke hap, inclusief de culturele invloeden die de regionale keuken hebben gevormd, waarom Spaanse omeletten sterke meningen in het hele land inspireren en wat “hacer el vermut” echt betekent voor de lokale bevolking. Tussen de haltes door verkent u de historische Call (Joodse wijk), wandelt u langs de overblijfselen van het Romeinse forum op Plaça Sant Jaume en ervaart u de levendige straten die deze wijk al eeuwenlang in het hart van Barcelona houden.

Verscholen op een rustige hoek van El Born, herbergt dit rustige 12e-eeuwse Romaanse plein de oude Capella d'en Marcús, een klein heiligdom dat ooit verbonden was met pelgrims en middeleeuwse postruiters.
Warm, door een familie gerund restaurant waar traditionele Spaanse keuken creatieve flair ontmoet. Hier proeft u enkele van de volgende proeverijen : aubergine met honing, varkenswang, varkensgehaktballetjes met inktvis, padrónpaprika's, cannelloni met varkensworst of burrata kaas , samen met een glas vermout.
Een charmante, pretentieloze tapasbar in het hart van de Gotische wijk van Barcelona, gericht op seizoensgebonden, lokaal geproduceerde gerechten. Geworteld in de traditie maar gepresenteerd met een moderne, creatieve twist. Proef een selectie gerechten zoals Jamón Ibérico, brood met tomaat, seizoensgroenten, calamari met kimchisaus of gegrild Iberisch varkensvlees, geserveerd met rode wijn.
Terwijl de tour zich vooral richt op de iconische Gotische wijk, passeren we vaak een paar uithoeken van de andere prachtige oude delen van de Ciutat Vella (oude stad): El Born en La Ribera.
We gaan door een aantal prachtige straten en pleinen, zoals Plaça Sant Jaume, het historische en politieke hart van Barcelona, waar ooit het Romeinse forum was. Nu de thuisbasis van de belangrijkste instellingen van Catalonië, is het de perfecte plek om de lokale politiek, vlaggen en de traditie van menselijke torens, genaamd castells, te ontdekken.
Historische Joodse wijk, een labyrint van smalle middeleeuwse steegjes, oude stenen gebouwen en verborgen binnenplaatsen. Ooit het Joodse hart van de stad, nodigt het je vandaag uit om eeuwen geschiedenis en erfgoed te verkennen.
Eindig met een proeverij van een klassiek Catalaans dessert: een vijgenijsje, een crema catalana of een kastanjetaart, gecombineerd met fijne Cava, een Spaanse mousserende wijn, in een charmante wijnkelder verscholen in de historische Joodse wijk van Barcelona.
Een spookachtig mooi plein in de Gotische wijk met barokke architectuur en zichtbare littekens uit het verleden van Barcelona, biedt een rustig, reflecterend moment doordrenkt van geschiedenis.

It’s my second Eating Europe experience (did one in London in April 2026), they are admittedly pricey but do an excellent job. Here in Barcelona, Lindsay was a fantastic host, and mixed in bits of the city history with lots of wonderful tasting bites of the Gothic Quarter city present. Eat anything Tony at Sabor de Barrio makes you, you won’t regret it. On to Budapest, I will be doing an Eating Europe tour there next week!

After really enjoying the Florence tour last summer, we were really looking forward to this tour. After booking and receiving confirmation with eating Europe, we got a text from eating Europe asking if we could do a different time. We couldn’t, as we had booked other activities around this one. They could offer no reasonable alternative citing ‘vendor issues’ for the reason for the cancellation and so issued a refund. The refund amount was straight away, but less than we had paid. Although this was only a small amount, we didn’t feel we should be out of pocket due to a cancellation by the company who are at fault. After raising this, the company responded that this was due to ‘currency exchange rates’ and then stopped replying to texts. After taking a booking I find it hugely disappointing that this would be cancelled and that the company would not make more effort to provide a suitable alternative. The customer service has been appalling. To simply get a text saying ‘can you do a different time instead’ with no explanation completely out of the blue was not acceptable and to now not respond is very poor. We are incredibly disappointed by the cancellation by the company as we were very much looking forward to it and the customer service since has fallen well below expectations. We will think twice before using this company again after a frankly wonderful experience last time.

We had a wonderful experience with three generations of family. Kornelia was extremely warm and knowledgeable. The food was excellent and we also has an educational walk through the city while moving from place to place. The whole party had a great time.

The size & scope of this 3-hour tour was absolutely delightful. Marc was an incredible host as he took us to his local favorites.
