Het straatvoedsel in Bangkok beperkt zich niet tot een handkar op straat, het kan ook een verzameling kleinere restaurants zijn, een reeks kraampjes op een doordeweekse of weekendmarkt. Zelfs traditionele winkelpanden verkopen heerlijk straatvoedsel, waarbij de tafels uitlopen op de stoep. Een ander voordeel? Zelfs het beroemdste en beste straatvoedsel in Bangkok is meestal uiterst zakvriendelijk en doet tegelijkertijd geen concessies aan de smaak, kwantiteit of kwaliteit van het eten. Het gebied Samphanthawong is een van de verborgen pareltjes van Bangkok met veel straatvoedselverkopers. Het gebied dat verbinding maakt met Chinatown, is sinds de begindagen van Bangkok een Chinese gemeenschap. er is veel keuze in voedselvariëteit, culturen en het lokale leven.
We nemen een pauze voor een gedenkwaardige foto bij Odeon Circle, genaamd "Dragon Head" omdat dit het begin was van Yaowarat, die het "Dragon Road" heette. Odeon Circle of Wongwian Odeon is de kruising van Yaowarat, Charoen Krung en Tri Mit of Mittaphap Thai-Chinese wegen De cirkel dankt zijn naam aan een bioscoop in de omgeving, die eind jaren tachtig werd gesloopt. Het midden van de rotonde had oorspronkelijk een fontein, totdat deze in 1999 werd vervangen door de Chinese poort. De bovenkant van de poort is aan beide zijden gegraveerd in zowel Thaise als Chinese letters, wat betekent dat "Poort van herdenkt de 6e cyclusverjaardag van HM de Koningsverjaardag". De poort werd officieel geopend op 5 december 1999 door prinses Sirindhorn die de ceremonie voorzat.

Elena was a fantastic guide - warm, knowledgeable and with a great sense of humour. We visited some hidden gems as well as some popular street food stands. It was a great introduction to Thai street food culture and gave us the confidence to be a bit more adventurous with our choices. Knowing what food to try can be overwhelming. This tour definitely helped with that. Had a great time walking around Chinatown and trying different dishes. Our guide Elena was absolutely amazing. She explained us about Thai culture, the food, life in Thailand, and everything in between. It was much more than just trying food, it was a cultural experience. If you are like me, and you like trying local dishes, this is for you! I wouldn’t recommend it to people with dietary restrictions. The dishes go way beyond the typical pad Thai. We tried so much I wouldn’t have tried otherwise. The tour was well paced and we tried a total of 11-12 dishes, from Michelin graded to sweet ones at the end. We just didn’t keep going because we were full haha once again, I can’t emphasize enough how good Elena was. Fun, knowledgeable, friendly and professional. 100% worth it!

For my last night in Bangkok I booked the tour last minute and much to my chagrin I missed the last time, but with quick thinking I managed to get a private tour with guide Enjoy, and enjoy food did I do! By the end of the tour I was begging for the food to stop because I was so full. Enjoy took me to popular Michelin star restaurants with ease and also mom and pop stands and the food did not disappoint! She was charismatic, funny and just a joy to speak with/share her culture with me. In the near future I shall definitely return with a bigger appetite and also more people so they could bask in the awesomeness that was Enjoy!

A great experience. Elena was a lovely host and was enthusiastic when giving her explanations of Thai food and culture. I knew Bangkok would have many places to eat that as an inexperienced traveller in this area I would not have the confidence to go into myself but having a local guide made all the difference and i was provided some wonderful food.
