Begin bij de Baatara Gorge — de adembenemende waterval met drie bruggen die iedereen tegenhoudt — en ontdek vervolgens de hooggelegen meren van Aaqoura, weggestopt in de Libanese bergen waar de meeste toeristen zich nooit wagen. Eindig de dag in Batroun — een van Libanons meest gekoelde kustplaatsen, met een Fenicische zeemuur, stenen straten en enkele van de beste verse zeevruchten aan de Middellandse Zee. 9.00 uur — Vertrek uit Beiroet Je chauffeur haalt je op bij je hotel in Beiroet en rijdt noordwaarts de Libanese bergen in — de stad verdwijnt achter je als de weg klimt richting Tannourine en het eerste natuurwonder van de dag.
Baatara Gorge — drie bruggen, een waterval, nul woorden Niets bereidt je voor op Baatara. Een waterval van 255 meter valt door drie opeenvolgende natuurlijke kalkstenen bruggen — een geologisch fenomeen dat nergens anders op aarde voorkomt — en verdwijnt in de duisternis van de kloof eronder. Loop naar beneden naar het uitzichtpunt, voel de spray, hoor het gebrul en probeer een foto te maken die het recht doet. Je kunt het niet — maar je zult het toch proberen. In het voorjaar als de sneeuw hard smelt, is het volume van het water duizelingwekkend. Zelfs in de zomer is de kloof dramatisch en de wandeling naar beneden is elke stap waard. Een van de meest gefotografeerde natuurgebieden in Libanon en een van de gemakkelijkst te begrijpen waarom.
Ga vanuit de kloof naar Aaqoura — een hooggelegen berggebied dat de meeste Libanese bezoekers nooit vinden, en dat is precies wat het de moeite waard maakt. De meren liggen op meer dan 1.500 meter boven zeeniveau, omlijst door cederbossen en bergpanorama's die zich uitstrekken over de Noord-Libanese hooglanden. Wandel over het pad langs de oevers van het meer, geniet van de reflecties, adem de berglucht in — het is een van die plaatsen die echt buiten de toeristische kaart voelt, hoewel het slechts 30 minuten van Baatara is. Perfect voor foto's, perfect voor een rustig moment, en een compleet contrast met het drama van de kloof die je net verliet.
Laat je van de bergen naar de Middellandse Zee vallen en kom aan in Batroun — een van de oudste Fenicische steden ter wereld en vandaag de dag een van Libanese meest geliefde hangplekken aan de kust. De stenen straten, Ottomaanse huizen en cafés aan de kust van de oude stad hebben een heel andere energie dan de bergochtend - ontspannen, kleurrijk en vol lekker eten. Wandel langs de oude Fenicische zeedijk — een 3000 jaar oude natuurlijke rotsbarrière die nog steeds op het strand staat — voordat u zich vestigt op een optionele lunch van verse mezze en zeevruchten in een van de restaurants aan het water. Batroun is ook beroemd als de thuisbasis van Libanese ambachtelijke bierscene als je zin hebt in een koude na een dag in de bergen.
Terugkeer naar Beiroet — ongeveer 5 uur 00–6 uur 00 uur Kustrit terug naar Beiroet met drop-off bij uw hotel — het voltooien van een dag die ging van een waterval met drie bruggen naar bergmeren naar een Fenicische kust in acht uur vlak.

Overall, our party felt that it was only OK, for such a long drive. We have to say however that the Baatara Waterfalls were really worth it. You must take the time to go down next to the gorge into which the water falls to appreciate the beauty. As for the Akoura lake, we were not able to go very high because of snow on the road, therefore we probably missed out on the view of the many artificial lakes. The time spent in Batroun was mainly to have lunch. We went to the Phoenician wall and walked a few minutes. Our driver was very friendly. However, based on the tour description and inclusions listed, we were under the impression that a professional guide was included. The driver did not provide much information along the way, or while walking across a historical town such as Batroun. He mainly drove us to the locations.

I can highly recommend the experience and Alfred, our guide, was friendly and very knowledgeable. The view of the lakes was amazing from the mountain top. We could also see a herd of sheep being watered. We then went on to the waterfall, I recommend good shoes the stone can be slippery. Finally we went to Batroun. We had great lemonade, saw beautiful sights and learned about the history of the city and Lebanon.
