Vulkanische wijntour op de Azoren vanuit Angra do Heroísmo
Beschrijving
Slechts acht plaatsen in de wereld produceren vulkanische wijnen. Denk maar aan de romantiek die wijnen omringt die zijn geteeld op bodems die zijn ontstaan uit gesmolten aarde en as. Vulkanische bodems zijn goed voor slechts 1 procent van het wereldoppervlak, maar dragen een veel groter percentage bij van 's werelds grootste wijngaarden. Vulkanische wijnen hebben avontuurlijke wijnliefhebbers geboeid die hun smaakpapillen willen shockeren met iets anders. Dit is een microproductiewijn van de vulkanische eilanden van de Azoren in de Noord-Atlantische Oceaan. Het wordt gekweekt in vulkanisch basalt op zeeniveau, op minder dan 50 meter van de Atlantische Oceaan. Dit terroir en de mix van variëteiten doordrenken deze wijn met ongelooflijke mineraliteit en zuiverheid, evenals onmiskenbare steenachtige smaken, zoutgehalte en een hartig karakter, mineraliteit en vulkanische wijnen gaan hand in hand. Vulkanische wijngebieden herbergen enkele van de meest intrigerende en karaktervolle wijnen ter wereld. Azoren, de plaats waar de steen wijn werd.

Bezoek het wijnmuseum en de wijnmakerij met een gids. Proef de wijn van deze producent en bezoek de kelder. (Zondag en maandag is het museum gesloten, we bezoeken een andere wijnmakerij of verzorgen een wijnproeverij bij de picknickplaats)
Vulkanisch terroir - Loop langs het land waar de druiven worden geproduceerd en begrijp de unieke kenmerken ervan. Geniet van het prachtige landschap van dit dorp in het noorden van het eiland en bezoek de beroemde natuurlijke oceaanzwembaden.
Probeer in een ontspannen sfeer in de tuin van een familie uit de Azoren verschillende vulkanische wijnen uit de Azoren (minstens 3 wijnen/volle fles op tafel) vergezeld van smakelijke proeverijen van de smaken van het eiland.
Laat u betoveren door dit landschap. Breng na het uitkijkpunt een snel bezoek aan dit kleine stadje aan het strand.

Great wine tasting featuring Azorean wines and local specialties (sausages, cheese, bread, olives, and cake). A very exclusive experience, as the tasting was held just for the two of us. For a very reasonable €25, we were picked up from our accommodation and driven back afterwards. The drive itself turned into a small island tour with stunning viewpoints and plenty of great recommendations. Warm, welcoming, humorous, and delicious throughout. Absolutely recommended!

We really enjoyed the scenic wine tour, with the last stop at Victor and Helia's home base, which is set up perfectly to host outdoor parties. We learned a lot about the island, wine & food culture, and especially Terceira's tradition of Tourada à corda. If I could give this tour 10 stars I would.. Vítor, our tour guide was so friendly, funny and informative. We ended the tour with a delicious Portuguese feast all prepared by his lovely wife. This is an amazing couple, do not hesitate to book this tour and we can’t wait to come back!

This was a fantastic tour. Victor is a wonderful tour guide. His years of experience is evident with the level of customer service provided. After the driving tour and stops at several locations, he and Hélia took us into their home for a feast meats, cheeses, homemade jams, and dessert with a wonderful discussion of the country and its traditions. Victor has a couple different tours including a military history tour that we were able to get a little of just because of the questions we were asking. We absolutely recommend this experience.

Excellent tour with Vitor, personable and knowledgeable guide. We visited the wine museum, tasted some fortified wine, viewed the vines, stopped by the natural pool and had a tasting of three wines hosted by Vitor and his wife and accompanied by cod fish cakes, cheese plate, freshly grilled sausage, and Dona ameilda cake.
