Wat Phra Mahathat, Thailand, was een koninklijke tempel van het Ayutthaya-koninkrijk. Het is een van de oudste en belangrijkste tempels in de geschiedenis van Ayutthaya omdat het de heilige relikwie van de Boeddha huisvestte. Veel belangrijke koninklijke ceremonies uit het Ayutthaya-tijdperk waren hier gehouden. Toen het Ayutthaya-koninkrijk in 1767 faalde, werd Wat Phra Mahathat zwaar beschadigd door brand en werd sindsdien verlaten. De tempel bevindt zich tegenwoordig in het gebied van het Ayutthaya Historical Park. attracties in Wat Phra Mahathat van Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya omvatten overblijfselen van belangrijke oude gebouwen zoals pagodes, achthoekige pagodes, koninklijke hal, kleine tempels, muurschilderingen onder een Bodhi-boom en het beroemde zandstenen Ayutthaya-achtige hoofd van het Boeddhabeeld in de wortel van een boom. Gelegen aan de oever van de Maenam Chao Phraya, ten westen van het stadseiland, ligt Wat Chaiwatthanaram. Gebouwd in 1630 door koning Prasat Thong ter ere van zijn moeder, werd Wat Chai Wattanaram ontworpen als een replica van de Angkor-tempel. Wat Chaiwattanaram, een van de meest bezochte historische bezienswaardigheden van Ayutthaya, ligt aan de oever van de Chao Phraya-rivier, ten westen van het stadseiland.
Elephant Kraal Pavilion (Phaniat) bevindt zich in het subdistrict Suan Phrik. Het is vier kilometer verwijderd van de stad langs Highway 347 op km 42-43.
Wat Yai Chai Mongkhon is een prachtige tempel bij het historische eiland. Hoogtepunten zijn de 60 meter hoge klokvormige chedi en een grote liggende Boeddha.

My family went on several tours with Angela and she was fantastic! I've been on many work trips around the world so learned the value of having a local tour guide on my family vacation - I didn't want to end up being the tour guide myself! I met Angela in 2024 during a work trip where she was hired to provide tours to a large group of students I was leading. I knew she was outstanding, but she really provided excellent service to me and my family in August 2025 when we took a vacation to Thailand. She took care of absolutely all of our needs and planned three wonderful excursions for us - all customized. In addition, she helped arrange transportation for us between Bangkok and Koh Chang and also to and from the airport. Everyone in my family had a wonderful vacation thanks to her care and concern for us. If you are thinking of traveling to Thailand, do yourself a HUGE favor and hire Angela to be your local tour guide. Your vacation will be relaxing and you won't be stressed trying to make all the local arrangements yourself. I can't wait to figure out how to get back to Bangkok just to do more tours.
